Canton of Clervaux, on the Belgian border
Weiswampach, lakes, Ardennes farmhouses and Belgium next door
Weiswampach is a commune in Luxembourg's far north, in the canton of Clervaux, with 2,699 residents on 1 January 2026. It's known for its two artificial lakes, 6 hectares each, and in Binsfeld it has the A Schiewesch rural museum in a 17th-century farmhouse. With three hotels in 2025, it's also the best-supplied base in the north after Clervaux.

Weiswampach is where I'd sleep in the far north if I wanted somewhere quiet with water nearby. I'd give the lakes an afternoon, the Binsfeld museum a morning, and nip over to the Kneiff in the next commune.

01 Most beautiful
Two lakes for a summer afternoon
The two artificial lakes cover 6 hectares each. visitluxembourg pitches them for summer swimming, with a pirate playground, a maze and a nature trail.

The farm museum, free on the pass
A Schiewesch in Binsfeld costs €7 (€5 with the Gero 60+ card) and is free for under 13s and with the LuxembourgPass.

03 Getting there
No station, but four bus routes
The nearest stations are Troisvierges and Clervaux. The commune is served by routes 170, 173, 174 and 175, free like all public transport in Luxembourg.
Troisvierges
What I would book
Weiswampach is the commune that looks across to Belgium from the country’s last corner. It has 2,699 residents, 35 km² and thirteen localities, including Binsfeld, Wemperhardt and Leithum, and it shares Luxembourg’s far north with Troisvierges. Officially it isn’t yet part of the Our Nature Park, but it has been working with the park since September 2021 to join.
The lakes, the reason to come
What puts Weiswampach on the tourist map is its pair of artificial lakes, 6 hectares each. visitluxembourg sells them as a summer swimming spot, with a pirate playground, a maze, local walk WW 3 and a nature trail through the Conzefenn reserve. There’s a holiday resort with accommodation right next to them. I go into detail on the Weiswampach lake page.
A few steps from the water, at Om Leempuddel, is the Tourist Info. In late September 2026 the office worked weekdays only, 8.30 to 11.30am and 1 to 4.30pm (Fridays to 4pm), and closed at weekends, which is exactly when most visitors turn up. I’d have my route planned before arriving.
A Schiewesch, farm life in Binsfeld
My favourite stop in the commune is in Binsfeld. The A Schiewesch rural museum fills a 17th-century farmhouse around 300 years old, with more than 50 themed spaces over 21 rooms showing how Ardennes farmers and craftspeople lived. The wood-fired oven is lit regularly for cooking the old way, and tractor rides can be arranged on request. The guided tour lasts two hours, costs €30 for groups of up to 20 and runs in Luxembourgish, German, English or French.
Entry is €7 (€5 with the Gero 60+ card), free up to age 12 and free with the LuxembourgPass. Around 30 September 2026 it was letting visitors in from 2pm, with last entry at 5pm and closing at 6pm. The museum also lets out a holiday house.
To sleep close to everything, search places to stay in Clervaux on Booking.com and filter by area before price.
Wartime memory
On Urenerweeg in Weiswampach stands the Lancaster Memorial, which remembers the crews of two Lancaster bombers that crashed here during the Second World War, with a small chapel for reflection. It fits naturally into a tour of the Battle of the Bulge in Luxembourg sites, even if the official listing doesn’t date the crashes.
Getting there and where to stay
Weiswampach has no railway. The commune names Troisvierges and Clervaux as the nearest stations, and four bus routes cross it, the 170 from Ettelbruck, the 173 to Saint-Vith, the 174 to Hosingen and the 175 round the smaller villages. The Our Nature Park has also waymarked a 28 km e-bike route between Troisvierges and Weiswampach. STATEC counted three hotels or similar and one campsite in 2025, more than any other commune in the far north except Clervaux, so this is a place where staying the night makes sense. From here, the highest point in Luxembourg is only about 3 km away as the crow flies, at Wilwerdange in neighbouring Troisvierges.
To sleep close to everything, search places to stay in Clervaux on Expedia and filter by area before price.
If you are short on time, see the best tours in Clervaux and pick one that fits your day.
Where the bus does not go, a car does: compare car hire in Luxembourg before you arrive rather than at the desk.

Frequently asked questions
What is there to do in Weiswampach?
Swim or picnic at the two artificial lakes, walk into the Conzefenn nature reserve, visit the A Schiewesch rural museum in Binsfeld and stop at the Lancaster Memorial, which honours the crews of two bombers lost in the Second World War.
Can you swim in the Weiswampach lakes?
visitluxembourg says they're ideal for swimming in summer. It doesn't publish a bathing season or say whether there's a lifeguard, so I'd ask at the Tourist Info beside the lakes.
How do I get to Weiswampach?
There's no railway. The nearest stations are Troisvierges and Clervaux, and four bus routes, 170, 173, 174 and 175, serve the commune free of charge. From the UK, fly to Luxembourg Airport or take the train via Brussels, then head north on CFL line 10.
Is Weiswampach in the Our Nature Park?
Not yet as a full member. The park has been working with the commune since September 2021 towards bringing it in.
Where can I stay in Weiswampach?
STATEC counted three hotels or similar and one campsite in 2025. visitluxembourg also mentions a holiday resort right beside the lakes.
