  • The Siwe Brécke-Wee is a 5.15 km circular trail starting in Reimberg.
  • The Michel Lucius museum is free on the first Sunday of each month, 10.30am to 11.30am.

Préizerdaul is a walk, not a sight. I'd do the Siwe Brécke-Wee on the morning of the first Sunday of the month and finish with the free hour-long tour of the Michel Lucius museum.

Before you go

What I would keep in mind

  1. 01 Most beautiful

A trail of bridges and ponds

The Siwe Brécke-Wee starts in Reimberg by St Roch's chapel and crosses the Schankegriecht valley past ponds, woodchip paths and lots of little wooden bridges.

  2. 02 To save money

A free museum on the first Sunday

The commune advertises a free guided tour of the Michel Lucius museum, no booking needed, on the first Sunday of every month, 10.30am to 11.30am.

  3. 03 My tip

About an hour and a half on foot

The government portal puts the Siwe Brécke-Wee at 5.15 km and an hour and a half's walk, well within most people's reach.

    hiking in Luxembourg

There’s no village called Préizerdaul. It’s the name of the commune, with its town hall in Bettborn and four localities in the national register, namely Bettborn, Platen, Pratz and Reimberg. With 1,802 residents at the start of 2026, thirty-odd fewer than a year earlier according to STATEC, it’s one of the smaller communes in the canton of Redange, and its main asset is a walk.

The Siwe Brécke-Wee

It’s one of the Guttland.Trails, the region’s circular walking routes. The government portal describes little ponds, woodchip paths, a stream winding through the Schankegriecht valley and a whole series of small wooden footbridges. It’s 5.15 km long, takes about an hour and a half and starts in Reimberg, beside St Roch’s chapel. The regional tourist office rates it among the prettiest circular walks in the area.

To me it’s an ideal stroll for families or anyone who doesn’t want a serious hike, level and with something to look at every few minutes. More routes across the country are under hiking in Luxembourg.

Who was Michel Lucius?

A Luxembourgish geologist born in Reimberg, whose birthplace is now a museum. According to visitluxembourg, two floors cover his life and research, explain what a geologist does, how to read a map and which stones are found in the house and around it. The commune advertises a free guided tour with no booking on the first Sunday of every month, 10.30am to 11.30am, and groups can arrange other days.

Once your dates are set, check which hotels are still free in Luxemburgo before prices climb.

Should you make the trip?

If you’re in the west of the country, yes, as long as it’s a first Sunday or the walk alone is enough for you. Without the museum, Préizerdaul is a short, pretty trail that doesn’t justify an hour’s drive from the capital on its own. With both, it’s a well-rounded free morning, the kind I like for seeing rural Luxembourg that never makes the postcards.

It’s also worth knowing what isn’t there. The regional office lists no hotels, restaurants or shop hours in the commune. I’d arrive with a packed lunch and a full tank, because you come here to walk and learn a bit about rocks, not to eat out. STATEC doesn’t publish a separate accommodation figure for the commune either. In Reimberg, visitluxembourg also lists the water tower on Rue St-Roch among its curiosities, without further detail, so if you spot it on the way to the trail, now you know why it’s on the map.

Fitting it in

There’s no station in Préizerdaul, so drive or take a bus, which is free. I’d plan it for a first-Sunday morning, trail and museum, then carry on to the free castle at Useldange to the south, or the mosaic at Vichten to the east. That adds up to a good day in the western part of Guttland Luxembourg.

Once your dates are set, check which hotels are still free in Luxemburgo before prices climb.

If you would rather have a local show you round, book a guided tour in Luxemburgo and choose by the reviews.

A car frees you from timetables: search car hire in Luxembourg on DiscoverCars and compare companies.

So you do not pay over the odds, look at trains, coaches and flights to Luxembourg on Omio and pick the one that suits you.
