Two permanent rinks and a seasonal one
Where to skate in Luxembourg, with opening hours and prices
Luxembourg has two permanent places to ice skate. The indoor rink at Kockelscheuer, on the southern edge of the capital, opens from 15 September to 15 April and charges €5 for adults and €4 for under-18s. The Ice Park in Beaufort, in the Mullerthal, opens in winter under a tented roof. At Christmas the tourist office also lists a rink in the municipal park.

- Kockelscheuer, just south of the capital, is open from 15 September to 15 April.
- Entry there is €5 for over-18s and €4 for younger skaters, with skates at €3.50.
- Beaufort's Ice Park opens in winter under canvas; its 2026-27 dates aren't published yet.
- The tourist office lists a rink on the municipal park's Kinnekswiss during Winterlights.
Kockelscheuer wins easily for me: it's open seven months a year, a free bus ride from the centre, and skate hire is €3.50. I'd keep Beaufort for a winter day in the Mullerthal alongside the castles, and I'd check its website first, because it announces the season late.

What I would keep in mind
-
01 To save money
Under €10 with skates included
At Kockelscheuer an adult pays €5 to get in and €3.50 for skates. If you'll go more than once, a book of 10 entries costs €45 for over-18s and €36 for younger skaters.

02 My tip
Late sessions on Fridays and Saturdays
In the 2026-27 season Kockelscheuer stays open until 23:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. On Mondays it's closed to the public except during Luxembourg school holidays, when it opens from 12:00 to 21:00.
-
03 Getting there
South of the city on bus 18
The rink is at 42 Route de Bettembourg in Kockelscheuer. The tourist office points to bus 18, free like all public transport, and 560 free parking spaces on site.

04 Most beautiful
Skating under canvas in the Mullerthal
Beaufort's Ice Park bills itself as the country's most traditional rink, set under a tented roof. It's 200 m from the Aispist bus stop and close to the two castles.
Beaufort
If you’re coming to Luxembourg between autumn and spring with children, or just fancy something other than museums, ice skating is well catered for. The main rink doesn’t wait for Christmas either. It opens in mid-September and keeps going into April, which is handy if your half-term trip lands in October or February. Here’s where to skate, what it costs and which rink I’d pick depending on where you’re staying.
Kockelscheuer, open seven months a year
The rink is at 42 Route de Bettembourg in Kockelscheuer, on the southern edge of the capital, right by the Roeser boundary. It’s indoors, so rain doesn’t matter, and the 2026-27 public season runs from 15 September to 15 April. The rink itself makes two points that matter for visitors. There’s no booking, and no minimum age.
Prices look fair to me, especially for a country where very little is cheap. Entry is €5 for those aged 18 and over and €4 for younger skaters, paid at machines as you arrive. Skates cost €3.50 to hire, from size 24 to 50, a helmet €2 and a skating aid, the frame beginners hold on to, €5 an hour. If you’ll be back, a book of 10 entries costs €45 or €36 and stays valid until 31 October of the following season.
The tourist office mentions a bistro for a hot drink afterwards, and family afternoons and Disco on Ice sessions at weekends and during the holidays. The skating school runs lessons for children, teenagers and adults. For a first visit, the rink’s own beginner guide asks for gloves, long trousers, a jacket and socks, and the lockers take a €2 coin that you get back. That’s the whole kit list, and I like that nobody is pushing you into a package.
Check the timetable before you go
It opens at midday from Tuesday to Friday and at 10:00 at weekends. On Fridays and Saturdays it stays open until 23:00; on other days it closes between 19:45 and 21:00. Mondays are public sessions only in Luxembourg school holidays. The table above has the detail. There’s no public skating on 1 November, 25 December, 1 January, from 12 to 14 March for the Coupe du Printemps, and on 29 March 2027.
Bus 18 gets you there without a ticket, since free public transport in Luxembourg covers city buses too. If you’re driving a hire car, there are 560 free spaces at the Kockelscheuer park and ride. The same leisure area has a golf practice centre and tennis courts, and the Kockelscheuer ponds are close by.
If you are staying the night, see the best hotel deals in Luxemburgo for your dates: the well-placed rooms go fast.
Is the Ice Park in Beaufort worth the trip?
The Ice Park is at 87 Grand-Rue in Beaufort, in the Mullerthal, and bills itself as Luxembourg’s most traditional rink, under a tented roof. It hires out skates and lends penguin aids so younger children don’t fall on their first lap. As well as public skating, the Beaufort Knights play their home ice hockey matches here. The ice karting on its website didn’t run in the 2025-26 season. Schools and groups can book mornings from Tuesday to Friday.
The catch is the calendar. The last published season ran from 8 November 2025 to 1 March 2026, with adults at €7.50, students €6.50, children up to 14 at €4.50 and skate hire at €4.50. On 30 September 2026 there were still no dates for 2026-27. I wouldn’t build a holiday on that rink alone, though if you’re in the Mullerthal in winter, pair it with Beaufort’s two castles in the same village.
The Christmas rink in the park
The third option exists only for a few weeks. The tourist office says the Kinnekswiss, the big lawn in the municipal park in Luxembourg, hosts a Christmas market with an ice rink during Winterlights. Winterlights 2026 runs from 20 November to 3 January 2027, but on 30 September 2026 no times or prices had been published for this year’s rink. The rest of the festive programme is in Luxembourg Christmas market.
If you are staying the night, see the best hotel deals in Luxemburgo for your dates: the well-placed rooms go fast.
My pick
Heading to the capital between September and April, go to Kockelscheuer. It’s cheap, it’s indoors and the bus is free. If your dates fall during Winterlights, the park rink has the charm of skating in the centre. Save Beaufort for a Mullerthal break. For everything else in the colder months, from museums to weather and winter tyres, see Luxembourg in winter.
So you do not lose the morning at the ticket office, browse tickets and tours in Luxemburgo on GetYourGuide.
If you would rather go at your own pace, see the car hire deals in Luxembourg: the earlier you book, the more cars are left to choose from.
Before you fix your dates, compare tickets to Luxembourg: the same journey can cost very different amounts from one day to the next.

Where can you go ice skating in Luxembourg?
The two permanent rinks are the indoor one at Kockelscheuer, on the southern edge of the capital, and the Ice Park in Beaufort, in the Mullerthal. During Winterlights the tourist office also lists a rink on the Kinnekswiss in the municipal park, though 2026 times and prices weren't out on 30-09-2026.
How much is ice skating at Kockelscheuer?
For 2026-27, €5 for those aged 18 and over and €4 for under-18s. Skate hire is €3.50, a helmet €2 and a skating aid €5 an hour.
When is Kockelscheuer ice rink open?
The public season runs from 15 September to 15 April, Tuesday to Sunday, with Friday and Saturday sessions until 23:00. It's closed on 1 November, 25 December and 1 January.
Do I need to book to skate at Kockelscheuer?
No. The rink says there's no booking and no minimum age; you buy entry from machines on arrival. Hire skates come in European sizes 24 to 50.
When does the Ice Park in Beaufort open?
The 2025-26 season ran from 8 November 2025 to 1 March 2026. On 30 September 2026 the rink hadn't announced 2026-27 dates, so check its website before you travel.
Can I take skating lessons in Luxembourg?
Yes. Kockelscheuer's skating school teaches children, teenagers and adults, and Beaufort runs children's courses on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
