Commune of Wormeldange
Ehnen, the Moselle village with a round church
Ehnen is a wine village in the commune of Wormeldange, on the Luxembourg Moselle. Its old core of narrow, medieval-looking lanes wraps around a circular church built in 1826, the only one in the country, and it's home to the valley's wine museum, closed for renovation in September 2026.

- Ehnen is a wine village in the commune of Wormeldange, beside the Moselle.
- Its circular church of 1826 is the only one of its kind in Luxembourg.
- The village wine museum was closed for renovation in September 2026.
- Its wine festival, the Éiner Wënzerdag, falls on the third weekend of July.
Of Wormeldange's seven villages, Ehnen is the one I'd wander even if I didn't drink wine. With the museum shut, I'd treat it as a good hour between the river and the church and pair it with the climb to the Koeppchen.

What I would keep in mind
-
01 Most beautiful
Luxembourg's only round church
The Moselle tourist office calls it unique in the country and visitluxembourg dates it to 1826. The village lanes curl round it rather than running straight to the river.

02 My tip
Check the museum before you plan around it
The wine museum and the village tourist office were closed for works in September 2026. Check their status before building a visit round them.

03 Worth the splurge
Arrive by boat from Remich
One of the day cruises from Remich calls at Ehnen, and the lock trips go through the Ehnen lock. It's the loveliest way into the village.

What I would book
If I had to put one village on the cover of a Luxembourg Moselle brochure, it would be Ehnen. The regional tourist office talks of medieval character and narrow lanes, and that’s exactly it, a knot of winegrowers’ houses squeezed between the riverside road and the slope. It belongs to the commune of Wormeldange, a few kilometres south of the main village, and it has something you won’t find anywhere else in the country.
A round church at the centre of it all
Ehnen’s church is circular. The Moselle tourist office describes it as unique in Luxembourg, and visitluxembourg’s route page dates it to 1826. What makes it interesting is the way it shapes the village, since the lanes curve around it instead of heading straight for the water. Leave the car by the Moselle and walk in without a map, letting the lanes lead you up to the church square.
The wine museum, under wraps
Ehnen is also home to the valley’s wine museum, a cluster of winegrowers’ houses at 115 Route du Vin. In September 2026 it was shut. Its operator, the Entente touristique de la Moselle, lists it as closed for refurbishment, along with the tourist office and bike hire station in the same building, which closed on 2 September 2025. visitluxembourg says it will reopen in autumn 2026 as the Wäinhaus, a wine discovery centre with a bistro. What it was, what it will become and what to do meanwhile are covered on the Ehnen wine museum page.
To sleep close to everything, search places to stay in Remich on Booking.com and filter by area before price.
A walk above the rooftops
For the view down on Ehnen there’s the village’s waymarked loop, 7.64 km and roughly two hours, graded moderate. It leaves from the Wäinhaus, crosses the vines and climbs to the wooded heights above the valley, looking back over the village and river before it returns. If you’d rather make a single climb with a proper reward, the Koeppchen at Wormeldange is close by, and the Wormeldange loop heads this way through the vineyards.
The Éiner Wënzerdag
The village festival is the Éiner Wënzerdag, on the third weekend of July, with the Sunday as the main event. Winegrowers bring their bottles out into the old lanes, bands play and the local clubs handle the food. In September, on its third weekend, Ehnen also joins in the Riesling Open. For every other date in the valley, see Luxembourg wine festivals.
To sleep close to everything, search places to stay in Remich on Expedia and filter by area before price.
Reaching Ehnen
The Ehnen, Puddel bus stop is served by Luxembourg’s free buses, and there’s a car park on the riverbank. My favourite approach is by water. One of the Moselle river cruises that runs a full day out of Remich calls at Ehnen, and the lock trips pass through the Ehnen lock. For a bed, Remich has far more on offer than the village.
If you are short on time, see the best tours in Remich and pick one that fits your day.
Where the bus does not go, a car does: compare car hire in Luxembourg before you arrive rather than at the desk.
If you still need a way in, check the best ticket deals to Luxembourg from where you are.
