Street music in the capital since 2000
Fête de la Musique in Luxembourg, free gigs across the capital
Luxembourg's Fête de la Musique runs from 11 to 21 June 2027, according to its organisers. It means free concerts in streets, squares and public spaces, with amateur and professional musicians across every style. Luxembourg City has held it since 2000, and in 2026 it was split between the centre, Kirchberg and Eich.

- Luxembourg's Fête de la Musique runs from 11 to 21 June 2027.
- Every concert in the capital is free, in streets, squares and public venues.
- In 2026 gigs were spread over the centre, Kirchberg and Eich, each on its own dates.
- It ends just before the eve of National Day on 22 June.
For me the Fête de la Musique is the best reason to visit Luxembourg in June. It's free, it runs for days and it ends just before National Day, so pick the right week and you get both. I'd wait for the 2027 programme before fixing which evenings to go, because in 2026 each district had its own dates.

01 To save money
Free, right down the line
The capital's tourist office is clear that every concert is free. Add public transport, which costs nothing within the country, and your only spend is at the bar.
-
02 Getting there
Tram it out to Kirchberg
Kirchberg had five days of gigs in 2026, from 17 to 21 June. Tram T1 links the station and the old town with the district, stopping at Philharmonie/Mudam and Luxexpo among others.

03 My tip
Check dates by district
In 2026 the centre had concerts from 12 to 14 June, Kirchberg from 17 to 21 and Eich on the 20th. If 2027 follows the same pattern, each area will have its own days.

From the stage to the torches
The 2027 Fête de la Musique finishes on 21 June, and on the 22nd comes the eve of National Day, with the torchlight procession and fireworks from the Adolphe Bridge.
Luxembourg National Day
What I would book
Some weeks of the year Luxembourg feels like a different country, and Fête de la Musique week is one of them. A capital that plenty of visitors picture as offices and banks fills up with street stages and gigs that cost nothing. If I could choose one month to go, this would be it, so here’s why and how I’d plan it.
A June street party with a long run
It’s Luxembourg’s edition of the June music festival, and the capital’s tourist office sums it up neatly. Since 2000 it has filled Luxembourg City with free concerts in public spaces, open to amateur and professional musicians and covering all sorts of styles, genres and languages. Over several days, streets, squares and public venues become stages for local talent, up-and-coming acts and names people already know.
Behind it is a non-profit association, Fête de la Musique Luxembourg, which works under an agreement with the Ministry of Culture and coordinates what happens around the country. I was pleased to see it publish good-practice guides on accessibility and on greener events for organisers in September 2026. It tells you something about how seriously they take it.
2027 dates, and what 2026 looked like
The organisers are already asking people to save the dates for 2027, from 11 to 21 June. What hadn’t been released by the end of September 2026 was the programme, meaning which districts, which stages and which nights.
For a sense of shape, look at the 2026 edition in the capital. The city centre had concerts from 12 to 14 June, the Kirchberg district from 17 to 21 June, and Eich, in the north, on 20 June. All free. So it wasn’t one big weekend but a run of dates area by area, and I’d approach 2027 the same way rather than expect music everywhere every day.
To sleep close to everything, search places to stay in Luxemburgo on Booking.com and filter by area before price.
Centre, Kirchberg or Eich?
The centre is the easiest to combine with a wander round the old town. Over the summer the capital also runs its own programme, Summer in the City, with concerts at the bandstand on Place d’Armes.
The Kirchberg district is a different world. It’s home to the European institutions and the Philharmonie, spacious and modern, and in 2026 it had the most days of music. I’d give it at least one evening, because stages set among glass towers and architect-designed buildings have their own appeal.
Eich is a small district in the north of the capital, in the Alzette valley. In 2026 it had a single day, Saturday 20 June, and to me that kind of neighbourhood party shows you the city as locals live it, with no tourists around.
Beyond the capital
The Fête de la Musique isn’t only a Luxembourg City affair. The association encourages communes, associations and public bodies based in the country to stage their own, and publishes a practical guide to help. Which towns take part in 2027 won’t be known until the programme appears, so if you’ll be up north or on the Moselle, I’d check the website a few weeks ahead.
To sleep close to everything, search places to stay in Luxemburgo on Expedia and filter by area before price.
Straight into National Day
The best bit is what comes next. The 2027 festival ends on Monday 21 June, and the 22nd is the eve of Luxembourg National Day, with the changing of the guard, the torchlight procession and fireworks from the Adolphe Bridge. The 23rd, a bank holiday, is a Wednesday. One practical point, shops must close by 18:00 on 22 June.
If running appeals more than listening, the capital’s other big spring date is the Luxembourg marathon, the ING Night Marathon, on 8 May 2027.
How I’d plan it from the UK
I’d stay in the capital, since the gigs are spread across districts and public transport is free throughout the country, including the tram from Findel airport. The Luxembourg tram links the station, the old town and Kirchberg, and on Friday and Saturday nights the City Night Bus runs until 3:30. Pack something for rain, as June is one of the stormiest months at Findel, with 8.6 thunderstorms on average according to MeteoLux. And book early, because with the music and National Day back to back, the second half of June is one of the liveliest fortnights in the city.
If you are short on time, see the best tours in Luxemburgo and pick one that fits your day.
Where the bus does not go, a car does: compare car hire in Luxembourg before you arrive rather than at the desk.
If you still need a way in, check the best ticket deals to Luxembourg from where you are.

Frequently asked questions
When is the Fête de la Musique in Luxembourg in 2027?
From 11 to 21 June 2027, the dates the organisers ask you to save on their website. The programme by district and stage hadn't been published by the end of September 2026.
Are the concerts free?
Yes. The capital's tourist office says every concert is free, and so is public transport within Luxembourg.
Where does it take place in Luxembourg City?
In streets, squares and public venues across several districts. In 2026 the centre had concerts from 12 to 14 June, Kirchberg from 17 to 21 and Eich on the 20th.
Is there a Fête de la Musique outside the capital?
The association behind it encourages communes, associations and public bodies across the country to put on their own, and publishes a practical guide for them. Which towns join in 2027 will be clear once the programme is out.
Does it clash with Luxembourg National Day?
It comes just before. In 2027 it ends on 21 June; the 22nd is the eve of National Day, with torches and fireworks, and the 23rd is the bank holiday itself, a Wednesday.
Is June a good time for a trip from the UK?
I think it's the best. The days are long, the concerts are free and National Day follows straight after. You can fly into Findel, where the tram into town is free, or come by train through Brussels or Paris.
