The Kind pavilion in the spa park at Mondorf-les-Bains, with a glazed structure, garden and iron sculptures

Luxembourg's benchmark spa is Mondorf Domaine Thermal at Mondorf-les-Bains, the country's only thermal spring. Its hotels include Wellness & Fitness access from 3pm on arrival day, and day visitors pay €52 for a full weekday or €55 at weekends, as of September 2026. Beyond Mondorf, no official source publishes which hotels have their own spa.

  • Luxembourg's only thermal spring is at Mondorf-les-Bains.
  • Hotels at the Domaine Thermal include the spa from 3pm on arrival day.
  • Without staying, a full day costs €52 on weekdays and €55 at weekends, as of September 2026.
  • Under-16s may only use the thermal pool.

If you're heading to Luxembourg for a spa, I'd go straight to Mondorf and stay at the Domaine Thermal itself or in the town. A city hotel with a sauna in the basement is nothing like a proper thermal spa, and that difference is the whole point.

Before you go

What I would keep in mind

  1. 01 Most beautiful

    The country's only thermal water

The government's portal calls Mondorf's the only thermal spring in Luxembourg. visitluxembourg adds that it's the Grand Duchy's only thermal and wellness centre.

  2. 02 To save money

Two hours is enough for a taster

A two-hour ticket costs €32 Monday to Friday and €35 at weekends, as of September 2026. Every extra half hour is €9, so plan before you go in.

    Mondorf Domaine Thermal
  3. 03 Worth the splurge

    Stay inside the complex

The Domaine Thermal's hotels include the spa from 3pm on arrival day, with bathrobes and towels in the room. It's the one spa plan in the country I'd pay for without a second thought.

  4. 04 My tip

    No swimwear in the sauna

The Domaine's rules require swimwear in the pools and ban it inside the saunas, where you sit on a towel. There's a textile sauna for anyone who prefers to stay covered.

What I would book

Asking about spa hotels in Luxembourg gets a shorter answer than you’d expect. The country has a single thermal spa, at Mondorf-les-Bains, and everything else is a hotel spa that no official source compares. So I won’t rank hotel saunas I can’t check, though I do name the few whose official listing describes the spa. I’ll explain what Mondorf offers instead, because that’s what genuinely justifies the journey.

One country, one thermal spring

The Luxembourg government’s portal describes Mondorf’s as the country’s only thermal spring, and visitluxembourg presents it as the Grand Duchy’s only thermal and wellness centre. If you’re used to British spa hotels, where the spa is a pool and a steam room in the basement, this is a different scale altogether. It sits in the far south-east, a stone’s throw from the Moselle, in a commune of just over 5,000 people that also has the country’s only casino.

The Domaine Thermal is a big complex. Its website lists a thermal pool at 36 °C, indoor and outdoor, a freshwater pool at 28 °C, a pool whose temperature changes with the season, 11 saunas, 3 hammams, an infrared cabin, jacuzzi and a 1,800 m² gym. visitluxembourg mentions 12 saunas on its listing, so I’m going with the Domaine’s own figure. There’s more in Mondorf Domaine Thermal.

Stay at the Domaine or go for the day?

This is the key decision. The Domaine Thermal’s own hotels include Wellness & Fitness access from 3pm on arrival day, according to its website, with bathrobes and towels in the room and the option to go in earlier for a supplement. For one or two nights, the spa is already paid for. Do the maths and a night at the Domaine can work out better value than a separate hotel plus two day tickets, especially at weekend prices, though I have no official room rates to put numbers on it.

If you only want a day, tickets are sold without booking. As of September 2026, two hours cost €32 Monday to Friday and €35 at weekends, and a full day €52 and €55. Every extra half hour is €9, which mounts up quickly if you nod off in the relaxation room. My advice is to go in with a plan, three hours for the water and saunas, or the whole day if you’ll eat there too.

If you are staying the night, see the best hotel deals in Mondorf-les-Bains for your dates: the well-placed rooms go fast.

The rules worth knowing

Two of them surprise visitors from Britain. First, you go into the saunas without swimwear, sitting on a towel, though there’s a textile sauna for those who’d rather cover up with a towel or sarong. In the pools, by contrast, swimwear is compulsory. Second, there’s a signposted outdoor nudity area.

The third rule matters for families. Under-16s may only use the thermal pool, with 60% off for ages 2 to 15. That’s why I see Mondorf as a trip for couples or friends rather than a family holiday. For that I’d look first at the family hotels in Luxembourg.

Mondorf’s eight hotels

In 2025 the commune had eight hotel establishments by STATEC’s count, down from ten a year earlier, and not a single campsite. I have no official source saying which have their own spa, so my approach is different. Either stay at the Domaine with access included, or stay in town a few minutes’ walk away and buy a ticket. The town’s areas and how to get there are in hotels in Mondorf-les-Bains.

Mondorf has no railway station. You arrive by bus, which costs nothing, like every other line in the country, or by car, and routes are on mobiliteit.lu. If you have a car, the town also works as a base for the Moselle wine villages, which is handy on a rainy day when the spa gets busy.

If you are staying the night, see the best hotel deals in Mondorf-les-Bains for your dates: the well-placed rooms go fast.

And beyond Mondorf?

Official information thins out here, but a few listings are specific. Up north, Le Clervaux Boutique & Design Hotel, four-star superior on the Grand-Rue in Clervaux, includes its Cinq Mondes spa in the stay, with a pool, sauna, hammam and hot tub, and the Koener, from the same group on the same street, gives access to that spa too. If you want water and forest rather than thermal baths, it’s the most complete option I’ve found outside Mondorf; the details are in hotels in Clervaux. In Vianden, the Belle-Vue gives guests free use of an indoor pool and sauna, and in Echternach the Eden au Lac has a pool, a gym and several saunas, according to visitluxembourg.

Beyond those listings, visitluxembourg’s camping page mentions that many campsites have wellness areas, and among its hotel packages in the Mullerthal there’s the odd deal with wellness access, but no list I can verify. My tip is to ask the hotel exactly what’s included, whether the pool is indoor and whether the spa costs extra, before paying a supplement for a word.

How I’d put it together

For a couples’ break, two nights in Mondorf and one in Remich, with the Moselle promenade and a wine cellar. On a longer trip, Mondorf works well as the final stop after walking in the Mullerthal or the Ardennes. There are more ideas in romantic Luxembourg and, if budget isn’t the issue, in luxury hotels in Luxembourg.

So you do not lose the morning at the ticket office, browse tickets and tours in Mondorf-les-Bains on GetYourGuide.

If you would rather go at your own pace, see the car hire deals in Luxembourg: the earlier you book, the more cars are left to choose from.

Before you fix your dates, compare tickets to Luxembourg: the same journey can cost very different amounts from one day to the next.
