Andorra's webcams, from the slopes to the road

Before heading up to ski in Andorra, the first thing I’d open is a webcam. It doesn’t replace the snow report, but in ten seconds it tells you what no text can, whether there’s fog up top, whether the wind is blowing, or whether it’s a day to stay in the valley. The resorts publish theirs free, and the government has its own for the roads.

The resort webcams

Grandvalira, Pal Arinsal and Ordino Arcalís share an operator, and each of their websites shows the others’ cameras. There are 11 fixed cameras in all. At Grandvalira, Encamp, Canillo, El Tarter, Soldeu with two, Estadi Creand and Espiolets, Grau Roig and Pas de la Casa, also with two, at 2,100 and 2,540 m. On top of that there’s the Grandvalira FlyingCam. Pal Arinsal has one at Pal and one at Arinsal, and Ordino Arcalís has its own. Naturland also links its own webcams for cross-country skiers.

The most searched is Grandvalira’s, and within it Pas de la Casa. That makes sense, since it’s the way in from France and the highest area. For what each sector offers, see my guide to Grandvalira.

Which camera for which plan?

Skiing Grandvalira, I’d check Pas de la Casa at 2,540 m first. It’s the highest camera on the list and the first to show fog or blowing snow up top. Then the camera for the sector you’ll start from, Soldeu, El Tarter or Encamp. Comparing the two Pas de la Casa cameras helps too, because if the lower one shows sun and the upper one shows nothing, the problem is altitude.

If you’re torn between resorts, compare Grandvalira with Ordino Arcalís. They’re in different valleys and the weather sometimes differs, and with an Andorra Pass or a pass of two days or more you can choose each morning.

The road cameras

When it snows, the cameras that matter most to me aren’t the slope ones. Andorra’s Department of Mobility shows live traffic cameras on its website, mobilitat.ad, and in its app, and answers on +376 1802 1802 round the clock. If you’re driving over the Envalira pass to Pas de la Casa or Grau Roig, particularly in a hire car from Toulouse, it’s where I’d look before anything else. What a webcam won’t tell you

A lovely picture doesn’t mean the runs you want are open. For that there’s each resort’s official piste report, with the time of the last update, open runs and lifts, skiable kilometres and snow depths, which I cover in the Andorra snow report. And to know what the weather will do, rather than what it’s doing, use each resort’s sector forecast and the national weather service, meteo.ad, covered in Grandvalira weather.

Sector weather, next to the camera

Grandvalira pairs its webcams with a weather page by sector that I find genuinely useful. Area by area, you get the altitude, the minimum and maximum temperature, the wind, how much snow there is and when it last fell, the avalanche risk, visibility, the state of the snow and which runs and lifts are open. If the camera shows fog, that page tells you whether it’ll clear or whether the wind will shut lifts. And in the run-up to the 4 December 2026 opening, it’s the best way to see when the first proper snow arrives.

If you’re on a package from the UK

If you arrive by coach from Toulouse or Barcelona and won’t be driving, the road cameras matter less once you’re there. They still matter on transfer day. If snow is forecast for your arrival, a quick look at the Mobilitat cameras and the Pas de la Casa webcams tells you whether to expect delays over the Envalira pass, and whether it’s worth messaging your transfer company. Once you’re in your resort, the slope cameras and the snow report are all you need each morning, and the free Grandvalira Resorts Ski Bus links the sectors.

The order I’d follow before leaving

First, the Mobilitat cameras if there’s a pass to cross. Then the high webcam at my resort and the one for the sector I’m starting from. And finally the piste report, so there are no surprises with a closed lift. It takes three minutes and can save you an hour in the car.
