Naturland, the mountain park at La Rabassa

Naturland is one of those places people know for a single thing, the Tobotronc, and then find there’s plenty more. It’s an outdoor activity park in La Rabassa forest, in Sant Julià de Lòria, open all year, and in winter it becomes the only Nordic ski area in the country, by its own account. If you’re travelling with children, or want a day that isn’t about downhill skiing, it deserves a slot in your trip.

From snowfield to adventure park

Its history explains why it has two such different areas. In 1994 the La Rabassa snowfield opened with its first 5 km of cross-country trails, and in 1995 and 1996 another 10 km were added. The other area, the 1600 level, was built as the shooting venue for the 1991 Games of the Small States of Europe and then sat underused for years. In 2007 the Tobotronc was built, opening in February 2008 and linking both areas under the Naturlandia brand, now Naturland.

It works like this today. The 1600 level is the activity centre, with the Tobotronc, zip lines, rope courses, tubing, the Sklide toboggan, a maze and archery. The 2000 level, higher up, has cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, horse riding and ponies. The Tobotronc ties them together, climbing from one to the other and back down.

Which ticket should you buy?

This is where people get caught out. The Tobotronc isn’t sold on its own; it comes with the Adventure ticket, which costs €42 for ages 14 and over booked in advance and €45 at the gate, or €37 and €40 for ages 7 to 13. It also covers the Airtrekk, tubing, the Squirrel circuit, the Sklide, the maze, archery and a self-guided trail at the 2000 level. Adventure Plus adds the Eclipse zip line and the Forestline for €52 in advance. For children aged 3 to 6 there’s Naturkids, with Airtrekkids, a mini zip line and ponies, for €35.

My advice is to always buy online, since every ticket is €3 cheaper, and to book ahead at weekends. Anyone in your group who doesn’t want to do activities gets in free, and parking at both levels is free too. Heights, ages and the rest of the toboggan detail are in my guide to the Tobotronc.

Opening times through the year

Naturland opens all year, but not in the same way. In summer 2026, from 27 June to 6 September, both levels opened daily from 10am to 6pm. In autumn, from 17 October to 22 November 2026, only the 1600 level opens, at weekends, from 10am to 5pm.

Winter runs from 28 November 2026 to 4 April 2027. The 2000 level opens every day from 9am to 5pm, snow permitting, and the 1600 level at weekends, over the 5 to 8 December long weekend and during the Christmas and Easter holidays, from 10am to 5pm. On 25 December and 6 January the Nordic area opens and there’s a special Tobotronc and lunch package from 11:30 to 16:30. Naturland in winter

At the 2000 level are La Rabassa’s 15 km of trails, which Naturland describes as the only Nordic ski trails in Andorra. There are four of them, from the beginners’ Prat de Conangle to the tough Roca de Pimes, plus a classic and skating school and equipment hire. On snowshoes, the Petjades trail takes about three hours to reach the Roca de Pimes refuge, and the Paquetaires trail covers 5 km to the Spanish border past Line P bunkers. Getting there and other practicalities

You drive up from Sant Julià de Lòria along the La Rabassa road, with free parking at both levels, although overnight stays aren’t allowed in the 1600 car park. Dogs are welcome in some areas, always on a lead, but not on activities. There are restaurants at both levels, a hostel and a mountain hotel. If bad weather affects an activity, Naturland offers an alternative or a change of date, but no refunds.

For me, the best way to use it is a full summer day with children who are over 1.20 m, or a winter morning of cross-country skiing for a change of pace between downhill days.
