The Tobotronc, Naturland's 5.3 km toboggan run

It’s called the Tobotronc, and it’s Naturland’s alpine coaster, or mountain toboggan if you prefer. Its 5.3 km track winds through the La Rabassa woods, in the parish of Sant Julià de Lòria, and Naturland bills it as the longest in the world. More people search for it than for the park itself, so here’s how it works, to save you any surprises at the ticket desk.

What the ride is like

You sit in a two-seater sled at the 1600 level and the Tobotronc hauls you up to the 2000 level while you take in the view. At the top the descent begins, with you controlling the sled’s speed, along a rail through the trees. Up and down takes about 20 minutes. Back at the bottom, in the shop at the 1600 level, you can see and buy your photo of the ride.

Naturland built it in 2007 and opened it in February 2008. It launched the Naturlandia brand, now Naturland, by linking the old snowfield at the 2000 level with the facilities at the 1600 level. The rest of the park is covered in my guide to Naturland.

How much is it, and which ticket?

This is the most common mix-up. You can’t buy a Tobotronc ride by itself, as Naturland’s FAQ makes plain. It’s part of the Adventure ticket, priced at €42 in advance or €45 on the day from age 14, and €37 in advance or €40 on the day for 7 to 13-year-olds. The same ticket gets you onto the Sklide, the Squirrel circuit, the Airtrekk and the tubing, plus archery, a maze and a self-guided trail. For €52 in advance, Adventure Plus throws in the Forestline and the Eclipse zip line.

My advice is to buy online and book ahead at weekends. It’s €3 less per person, which adds up for a family of four. Naturland’s zip lines and the others around the country are compared in zip lines in Andorra.

Can children ride it?

Yes, once they’re 1.20 m tall. Up to age 13 they must ride with an adult over 18, and from 14 they can ride alone. The maximum per sled is 160 kg, so an adult and a child fit easily. For those under 1.20 m, Naturland has the Naturkids ticket for ages 3 to 6, with low rope courses, a mini zip line and ponies.

There are restrictions worth knowing before you pay. Pregnant women can’t ride, and anyone with a heart condition or delicate health must say so when buying. People with reduced mobility can do the descent only, with two adult companions, following a procedure Naturland sets out on its page. When does it run?

It depends on the time of year, because it starts from the 1600 level and that area isn’t open every day. Summer 2026 ran from 27 June to 6 September, with the ride open every day between 10am and 6pm. Between 17 October and 22 November 2026 it’s weekends only, 10am to 5pm.

Over the 2026-27 winter (28 November to 4 April), the 1600 level is open 10am to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays, across the long weekend of 5 to 8 December and through the Christmas and Easter school holidays. Christmas Day and 6 January bring a Tobotronc-plus-lunch deal, running 11:30 to 16:30. Snow or bad weather can close activities, so I’d check the status page on the website on the day. If you’re on a ski week, a weekend afternoon here is a good break for tired legs.

Getting there

By car, it’s the La Rabassa road up from Sant Julià de Lòria, and the 1600 level has free parking during activity hours, which keeps the day’s cost down. Note that overnight stays aren’t allowed in that car park, campervans included, because Andorran law only permits them in authorised areas.

My take

To me the Tobotronc is one of the best things a family can do in Andorra away from the slopes, especially in summer. It isn’t cheap if all you want is the toboggan, but the Adventure ticket fills a whole morning. If your children are under 1.20 m, wait a year or pick another plan, because the height limit is the height limit.
