Soldeu, parish of Canillo
Hotel Soldeu Maistre, wood, stone and the gondola next door
Hotel Soldeu Maistre is a rustic hotel finished in wood and stone in Soldeu, in the parish of Canillo, 100 metres from Grandvalira's Soldeu-El Tarter gondola. It has double, twin and triple rooms with private bathrooms, a ski room, a terrace with mountain views, and accepts pets on request for €8 a day.
I'd pick it for a simple ski break with the dog, because few Soldeu hotels say so plainly that they take pets and what it costs. If you're after a spa or luxury, look elsewhere.

What I would keep in mind

01 Getting there
100 metres from the gondola
The hotel is about 100 metres from the Soldeu-El Tarter gondola, so you can walk to Grandvalira with your skis.

Promo codes on the website apply only to room and board, one per booking, and the hotel reserves the right to accept them.
What I would book
The Soldeu Maistre is a wood-and-stone mountain hotel, unpretentious, the kind you choose for the location. It’s in Soldeu, in the parish of Canillo, and the hotel itself puts it 100 metres from Grandvalira’s Soldeu-El Tarter gondola. For a simple ski break, that distance says nearly everything. If you want more facilities on the same street, compare it with the Hotel Himàlaia Soldeu.
Rustic, no-frills rooms
The rooms are rustic in style, with tiled floors, central heating, satellite TV and a private bathroom with bath or shower. There are doubles, twins and triples with three single beds, handy for groups of friends. Its website shows no stars, so I don’t give it any.
What I value most are the practical touches. There’s a ski room for your own kit, with rates on request, and an outdoor terrace with mountain views for the summer.
Can you bring a dog?
Yes, and that’s where it stands out from other hotels in the village. Pets are welcome on request at €8 a day, and the hotel asks you to check the conditions first. If you’re taking a dog to Andorra, the rest of my advice is in Andorra with a dog.
Once your dates are set, check which hotels are still free in Hotel Soldeu Maistre before prices climb.
Booking direct
The hotel promises its best price and the option to cancel on its official website. Promo codes apply only to room and board, one per booking, and the hotel reserves the right to accept them.
For a spa or a fuller ski-in hotel, the same village has the Sport Hotel Hermitage and the Piolets. All the village’s beds, compared, are in hotels in Soldeu, and the ski area as a whole in Grandvalira.
Getting there
Without a car, Soldeu is the last stop on the L3, so you arrive from the capital with no changes. With a car, bear in mind that Grandvalira’s two covered car parks in the village are paid, and showing that day’s Andorra Pass halves the price.
Once your dates are set, check which hotels are still free in Hotel Soldeu Maistre before prices climb.
Things to do nearby without skiing
The Sant Bartomeu chapel holds a painted 15th-century canopy and a Renaissance altarpiece, and close by the Incles valley opens up, with an electric train to the far end in summer while it’s closed to cars.
Who does it suit?
I can see it working for groups of friends who ski from morning to late afternoon and only want a bed, a shower and the lift nearby, and for anyone travelling with a dog. It’s not for anyone after a spa, luxury or a hotel to spend the afternoon in, because its services are the basics. If you travel in summer, the terrace with mountain views is the best spot in the hotel, and the Incles valley is close at hand for walking. Book directly if you want flexible cancellation. Its website also explains how its promotional codes apply, so read the conditions before booking.
If you would rather have a local show you round, book a guided tour in Soldeu and choose by the reviews.
A car frees you from timetables: search car hire in Andorra la Vella on DiscoverCars and compare companies.
So you do not pay over the odds, look at trains, coaches and flights to Andorra la Vella on Omio and pick the one that suits you.
