Free walking tours and guided visits in Andorra la Vella

A free walking tour is the quickest way to get your bearings in a new town, and Andorra la Vella has one. What it lacks is much public information about it, so here’s what the official tourist board says, what it doesn’t, and the alternatives I’d use if the timing doesn’t suit.

The free tour on the tourist board’s books

The official tourist board carries a listing for Andorra Free Tour - Andorra Visita Guiada, a firm of guides that, according to the listing, has many years in the trade. Its tour of the capital is a city walk of about three hours around the best-known sights and the old town. You meet in front of La Noblesse du temps, Salvador Dalí’s sculpture on Plaça de la Rotonda, which is also the first piece they talk about.

Stops named in the listing include the Paris bridge, the Vertical Garden, Casa de la Vall and the Romanesque Sant Esteve church. The same operator runs a city tour of Escaldes-Engordany from the entrance to Caldea, and in summer an evening walk through both parishes to see the town lit up, including Plensa’s 7 Poetes and the floodlit front of Casa de la Vall. That one starts from Parc de la Mola, opposite Caldea.

What does it cost, and when does it run?

This is the weak spot. The official listing gives no price. It says there are departures every day and advises checking times on the operator’s website, since they change with the season and the weather. That website wasn’t responding when I checked the sources on 28 September 2026.

Free tours usually run on a pay-what-you-think basis, but as it isn’t written down here, I’d ask when booking. What the listing does say is that tours run in Catalan, Spanish, French and English, and in other languages if you ask when booking, and that the route can be tailored to your interests.

The official alternative, for €2

If the timing doesn’t work, the tourist offices have a very decent fallback. The audio trails cover the centres of all seven parishes, ten stops each; in Andorra la Vella one of them is Plensa’s 7 Poetes. Buy a €2 QR card at any tourist office, download the content and it works offline. Each stop is geolocated, so your phone pings as you get close. There’s an English version, along with Catalan, Spanish and French.

For me it’s the best choice with young children or little time, because you go at your own pace, stop where you like and don’t have to wait for a group to form. At €2 a card, it’s also the cheapest decent commentary you’ll find. The capital’s tourist offices are on Plaça de la Rotonda and at Carrer de la Vall 3.

Guided visits inside the monuments

A walking tour stays outdoors. To go inside with a guide, museus.ad offers booked guided visits at Casa de la Vall and at Espai Columba with Santa Coloma church, for €1.50 on top of the €5 and €7 tickets. Ask about English when you book. I’d pay that supplement at Casa de la Vall, where the stories behind each room are the whole point. In summer, the Roureda dig at la Margineda is visited with a guide only, at 10:30, and tours there include English.

In summer, the tourist office

During summer 2026 the capital’s tourist office laid on walks of its own. A guided walk around the centre and Santa Coloma, with a private bus there. Another through the shopping streets and the old town, ending at the Bici Lab. And several costumed tours, featuring three 1970s neighbours from the Barri Antic or the author of the Manual Digest, at €5.50 per adult, €3 for over-65s and free for under-10s; the published language slots were Catalan and Spanish. Those dates have passed; for 2027, keep an eye on its website. If you’re only in town for a weekend outside July and August, the practical order is the free tour on arrival, the audio trail for anything you missed and a booked guided visit inside Casa de la Vall.
