Flights to Andorra, or how to fly to a country with no airport

“Flights to Andorra” is a search with a catch, because Andorra doesn’t have an airport. Nothing lands in the country. What it does have is two well-connected airports within a few hours by road, each with a coach waiting at the terminal, and that’s what this page is about.

No airport, and that’s fine

The Andorran tourist board says it plainly. Andorra has no airport because of its high mountain setting. It lists several international airports within 200 km, Toulouse-Blagnac, Carcassonne, Perpignan, Girona-Costa Brava, Barcelona-El Prat, Reus and Alguaire, plus Andorra-La Seu near La Seu d’Urgell, the airfield people tend to call Andorra airport.

In practice two of them carry almost everyone, because they have a direct coach up to Andorra from the terminal. The others exist, but you’re on your own for the last stretch.

Toulouse, the obvious one from Britain

By road Toulouse sits 185 km from the Andorran capital, and Blagnac’s website shows non-stop services to three London airports and to Manchester, Bristol, Edinburgh and Birmingham. Routes can be seasonal, so check your dates. Andorra by Bus then picks up in arrivals at 10:15, 14:15, 18:15 and 22:15, for €36 one way or €64 return. Barcelona, the one with most coaches

Barcelona-El Prat is 208 km from Andorra la Vella and two coach companies serve both terminals, Andorra by Bus with a departure from T1 roughly every other hour at €33 single, and Andorra Direct Bus with sixteen a day from €35. The journey takes around three and a half hours from the airport. If the flight times from your local UK airport suit Barcelona better, it’s every bit as good an option. What about Andorra-La Seu?

It’s the closest, 17.4 km from the Andorran border and 10 minutes from La Seu d’Urgell, and the tourist board calls it the quickest way in. The problem is information. The airport’s scheduled flights page was last updated in October 2024 and there’s no 2026-27 season on it, so I can’t give you routes or days. I wouldn’t book a trip around it until the airport or an airline publishes flights. What is confirmed is on Andorra-La Seu airport.

The smaller airports within 200 km

Perpignan is the closest of the rest by road, 163 km from Andorra la Vella, and Reus has a coach link run by La Hispano Igualadina according to Andorra Turisme’s guide. Girona is 271 km away and Alguaire sits near Lleida, 185 km from the capital. For none of them did I find a direct airport coach with a published fare, which is why I’d only use them with a hire car or a fare so cheap it pays for the extra hassle.

Skis, luggage and hire cars

If you’re flying with skis, remember the coach has limits too. Direct Bus takes two suitcases per person underneath, but skis are handled separately and only travel if you ask ahead and there’s room, so flag them at booking.

Hiring a car at the airport is the other route. You won’t need an international permit to drive in Andorra, and your UK photocard licence is accepted. Check that the rental contract allows you into Andorra and that the car has chains or winter tyres, compulsory from 1 November to 15 May. More in driving to Andorra.

How I’d search

Here’s my own routine. I’d look at Toulouse and Barcelona together from my nearest UK airport, and add the coach fare to each flight price. Then I’d check the landing time against the coaches. El Prat has departures until 22:45 plus one at 00:45, but Toulouse’s last airport pick-up is at 22:15, and a delay can leave you stuck until morning. One more thing belongs in the budget from day one. Your GHIC won’t help you in Andorra, so travel insurance with medical cover isn’t optional, and for skiing I’d make sure it includes mountain rescue.
