Every town and village in Andorra, by parish

Search for the towns of Andorra and you’d expect a tidy list. There isn’t an official one for the whole country. Each comú counts its own, some with names that never make the maps, while other places that look like villages turn out to be ski sectors or meadows of old barns. This page sorts it out parish by parish, with the source for every list. Which villages are worth your time, with scores, is in the prettiest villages in Andorra.

Does Andorra have cities?

Not in the sense a British visitor would mean. It has seven parishes, each with a main town and several smaller settlements. The biggest built-up area is Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany, merged on the valley floor, with more than 41,000 residents between them on 31 August 2026. Next come Encamp parish, with 13,751, and La Massana, with 12,402. The whole country had 90,105. The full breakdown is in Andorra’s population.

Canillo, a dozen or so villages

The tourist board says Canillo is split into 11 neighbourhoods. The Tibetan bridge website, run by the comú itself, names the villages of Canillo, Soldeu, Sant Pere del Tarter, L’Aldosa, Ransol, Els Plans, Meritxell, El Vilar, L’Armiana, Incles, Prats, Bordes d’Envalira and Molleres, and the comú also holds residents’ meetings in El Forn. The names you’ll recognise from ski brochures are Soldeu and El Tarter, both ski villages of Grandvalira, while Ransol, with its medieval houses, is the one I’d walk round in summer. Meritxell lives around its sanctuary and Incles around its valley. The whole parish is in Canillo.

Encamp, six settlements and a border

Here there is an official list. According to its comú, Encamp takes in six settlements, alphabetically El Tremat, Encamp, La Mosquera, Les Bons, Pas de la Casa and Vila. A 25 km drive separates the town from its border outpost, so booking one when you meant the other is a classic mistake, and one I’d double-check on any ski package before paying. Grau Roig and Els Cortals d’Encamp show up on plenty of maps, but the comú doesn’t count them. The first is a ski sector and the second a spread of barns with a small suspension bridge. Ordino, eight official villages

The Comú d’Ordino lists eight villages, in alphabetical order Ansalonga, Arans, El Serrat, La Cortinada, Llorts, Ordino, Segudet and Sornàs. It has the fewest residents, 5,851, and keeps its stone villages best. In La Cortinada you’ll find the 1347 manor of Cal Pal and the church of Sant Martí, Llorts has its mine and the end of the Iron Route, and El Serrat is where the old royal road down to Andorra la Vella begins. La Massana, no fixed number

The tourist board names seven main settlements. Besides the town itself, they are Pal, Arinsal, Sispony, Anyós, Erts and L’Aldosa. The comú calls them quarts, but its population page lists eight entries, adding a Quart Mitger it doesn’t describe anywhere else, so I won’t give you a fixed number. What each one offers is clear enough. Pal is the stone village, Arinsal the ski resort and the way up Comapedrosa, Sispony has Casa Rull and Anyós its hilltop church.

Andorra la Vella and Escaldes, the urban end

In the capital’s parish, the tourist board picks out three settlements, Andorra la Vella with its old town, Santa Coloma and La Margineda. In Escaldes-Engordany, the town was historically split between Escaldes and Engordany, divided by the Engordany bridge, with Els Vilars above and the Engolasters area, which the tourist board says isn’t a village as such. Shopping streets such as Avinguda Meritxell or Carlemany count as areas, since I haven’t read an official list of districts. My guide to the capital itself is Andorra la Vella.

The villages of Sant Julià, documented but not listed

In Sant Julià, the comú doesn’t publish a list of settlements online. What exists are tourist board entries for churches, chapels and walks in Auvinyà, Fontaneda, Nagol, Juberri, Aixovall, Aixirivall, Bixessarri and Llumeneres, plus La Rabassa, home to Naturland. Fontaneda has fewer than 150 residents, and Auvinyà, which looks medieval, is a 21st-century recreation. I present them as villages of the parish without inventing a count the source doesn’t give.
