What to do in Andorra's snow when you're not skiing

Not everyone who heads to the snow wants to ski, and almost every group has someone who doesn’t. Andorra’s resorts know it and have filled the winter with activities, some for children, some for thrill-seekers and some for a different kind of afternoon. Here they are with the prices listed online for 2026-27, and my view on which are worth the money.

Snowmobiles, at Grau Roig or Arcalís

The question people ask most is where to go snowmobiling near Pas de la Casa. The official answer is the activity centre at Grau Roig, Grandvalira’s sector next door. Rides are guided, on marked circuits, and priced per machine. Half an hour costs €85, an hour €175 and two hours €290, with at least two machines per booking and up to two people on each. Drivers must be over 18, and 6 to 17-year-olds can ride with an adult. There’s also a night ride at 6pm, 30 or 60 minutes, for €165 or €235 per two-seater, with dinner bookable separately.

At Ordino Arcalís, rides leave every hour from 10am to 4pm and are cheaper to try, €50 for 15 minutes and €85 for half an hour per machine, pedestrian pass included. The tourist board also lists private operators on the Envalira pass, such as Motos de neu Armengol. The road over the top is covered in my guide to the Envalira pass.

Husky sledding

For me, husky sledding is the loveliest thing you can do in Andorra’s snow without skis. Grandvalira runs it in two places. At Grau Roig, from the Cubil car park, there are 2, 3 and 5 km rides for €56, €71 and €96 a person, from age 12, a chance to drive the sledge from 14 for €90 and a 5 km night ride for €155. No lift pass is needed. At Riba Escorxada, in the El Tarter sector, the ride is half an hour including a turn driving, for €53.50, from age 3, but there you do need a skier’s or pedestrian pass. Most of the dogs are huskies, the resort says.

Sledges and coasters for the whole family

The Snake Gliss is my favourite budget treat. A line of linked sledges, steered by an instructor, runs from Pla d’Espiolets down to the village of Soldeu on the Astoret, Ós and Bosc Fosc runs just after closing. You meet at 4.30pm at the gondola and set off at 5pm. It costs €29.50 from age 6 and is free for ages 3 to 5, in walking boots rather than ski boots.

In Canillo, Mon(t) Magic Family Park has the Màgic Gliss, an alpine coaster the tourist board describes as 555 metres long and reaching 40 km/h, fine in ski boots and with one run in virtual reality. Three runs cost €18.50 online. Pal has a sledging and tubing zone with a conveyor and snow cannons, and sledging outside it is banned. Naturland has Nordic sledges on its 2000 level, a children’s area for ages 3 to 6 and, at weekends, the Tobotronc.

First tracks, igloos and winter biking

For confident skiers, First Snow at Soldeu and El Tarter lets you ski before the lifts open, on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8am to 9am, breakfast included, for €31. Grau Roig and Arcalís run igloo building, and at Pal the Winter Bike Park keeps five downhill trails, 16 km in all, open in winter for €31 a day.

Ice driving at Circuit Andorra

The other search that keeps coming up is the circuit at Pas de la Casa. That’s Circuit Andorra, at the top of the Envalira pass, 2,400 metres up and 3 km from the village. In winter it runs courses on snow and ice, from a first introduction to rear-wheel-drive drifting, and hosts the Andbank GSeries, an ice championship with more than 250 drivers. Before you book

Hardly any activity includes insurance, and the cover the resorts sell only applies inside the ski area. Since the GHIC isn’t valid in Andorra, check that your own travel policy covers snowmobiles and sledging. Snowmobiles, husky rides and snowshoe walks need at least two people or two machines, and 2026-27 booking isn’t open yet, so prices could still move. If you’d rather walk, see snowshoeing in Andorra.
