Where to eat in Bled depends on what you want to pay for. For Gorenjska cooking without paying for the view, Blejska hiša, Murka or the 18th-century farmhouse cellar in Zagorice; for chef-led cooking, Julijana and 1906, both Michelin-recommended; and for a view, the castle, Grajska plaža or the Park café. Bled Tourist Board, individual listings, checked on 17-10-2026. Hours are set by each venue and may change; check before you go. With the Grand Hotel Toplice under renovation in 2026, confirm Julijana is open.
I'd eat once at the castle or on the shore for the view and spend the other meals at places cooking Gorenjska food, which give better value. I'd have my cream cake at the Hotel Park café, where it was created, not at any old terrace.
My checklist before setting off
What I would book for Bled
Before you go
What I would keep in mind
-
01 Most beautiful
Lunch on the shore below the castle
Grajska plaža is a beach restaurant 5 m from the water, below the castle, with seasonal local produce and 130 seats outside. It opens from late April to early November.
Lake Bled -
02 Worth the splurge
Julijana, three toques by the lake
The Grand Hotel Toplice's restaurant seats just over 20, holds three Gault&Millau toques and was recommended by the Michelin Guide from 2022 to 2025.
Grand Hotel Toplice -
03 To save money
The castle cellar, the cheapest option
The Dornberg wine cellar at the castle is in the lowest price band on the tourist board's listing. It opens during castle hours and runs three-wine tastings for small groups.
Bled Castle -
04 My tip
Look for the Bled Local Selection label
Places with the Bled Local Selection certificate work with local producers. Holders include Kavarna Park, Julijana, Grajska plaža and the Kurej inn at Zasip.

The original cream cake
Hotel Park's café has made the original Bled cream cake since 1953, with eggs, flour, cream, milk, sugar and butter and nothing artificial.
Bled cream cake
Gorenjska cooking without paying for the view
To taste what the region eats, I’d start with the places that present themselves as local kitchens. Blejska hiša, on Ljubljanska cesta, draws on traditional Gorenjska life and used 170 cubic metres of Slovenian wood for its interior. Murka, on Riklijeva cesta, opened in 1909 in one of the old villas of the original village core below the castle rock, and mixes traditional and modern dishes with a good list of Slovenian wines.
The one that catches my eye most is the Oldest Bled Cellar in Zagorice, an early 18th-century farm restored as an Alpine-style restaurant in stone and wood, with a big terrace and an open kitchen. If you’d like to know which dishes to order, the Slovenian food guide has them, and when the bill comes, remember that tipping in Slovenia is voluntary.
Chef-led cooking
Bled has two restaurants that the local tourist board marks as recommended by the Michelin Guide. Julijana is at the Grand Hotel Toplice, seating just over 20 by the water, with three Gault&Millau toques and chef Simon Bertoncelj. With the hotel being renovated in 2026, confirm it’s open before you go. Restavracija 1906, at Hotel Triglav Bled, works as a breakfast, brunch and wine-bar spot with a terrace. Both sit in the top price band.
Dining with a lake view, once
The Jezeršek company runs the restaurant at Bled Castle, which is open all year and reworks traditional dishes. The castle courtyard also has the Dornberg cellar, with more than twenty wines, tastings for small groups and the chance to bottle your own. Down on the shore, Grajska plaža is a beach restaurant five metres from the water, with a 130-seat terrace, chef Martin Gluščič and seasonal local produce, open from spring to autumn.
For coffee with a view, Kavarna Park sits right on the lake, and the Belvedere café at Vila Bled opens in season in the pavilion Plečnik designed.
Once your dates are set, check which hotels are still free in Bled before prices climb.
Cream cake and other sweets
Bled cream cake, kremšnita, is the perfect excuse for a break. Kavarna Park, the Hotel Park café, has made it since 1953 and calls itself its original home, with fresh ingredients and nothing artificial. Zima patisserie on Grajska cesta has a baking tradition dating back to 1890 and also makes potica, seasonal cakes and home-made ice cream. On the island, the Potičnica bakes traditional potica.
Lunch on the way to Vintgar
For a meal on the way to the gorge, the Kurej inn is in Zasip, about three kilometres from the lake and close to Vintgar. It’s a family business with home cooking and seafood, and in summer the garden stays open later. Hours and addresses are in the table, and the Bled guide covers everything else in town.
If you would rather have a local show you round, book a guided tour in Bled and choose by the reviews.
Once your dates are set, check which hotels are still free in Bled before prices climb.
Bled Castle high on its cliff above the lake, with rowing boats on the green water and snow-capped Alps behind
Bled Island with the Church of the Mother of God and its white bell tower in the middle of the lake, backed by forest and mountains
Lake Bled from the Ojstrica viewpoint, with the island and its church in the centre, wooded shores and the Julian Alps beyond
Test yourself

See the answer
False. It first opened its doors in 1909, in one of the old villas in Bled's original village core below the castle rock.
