The pool with the lake’s thermal water

The tectonic structure of Lake Bled brings several thermal springs to the surface on its eastern shore, and they never fall below 20°C; three of the town’s hotels pipe them into their pools. Hotel Park and Rikli Balance Hotel heat the water, while the Grand Hotel Toplice offers it just as it comes out, at 22°C, according to the Bled tourist board. They also say you can drink the same water from a glass for its health benefits.

It ties in with the town’s history. Bled made its name in the 19th century as a cure resort, with Arnold Rikli’s institute, and Sava Hotels & Resorts itself points out that the place has been known as a natural health resort ever since.

Is it open? The 2026 renovation

Sava Hotels & Resorts, the group that owns it, lists the renovation of the Grand Hotel Toplice among its works in progress in 2026. It describes it as Bled’s most elegant hotel, with almost 90 years of tradition, and says the project puts sustainability first and keeps the original features from the time it was built, modernising them only slightly. The work also includes an energy overhaul of the building.

The hotel’s own page on the group’s website returned an error on 17-10-2026, and the accommodation listing only showed the start of a notice about the complete renovation, with no date visible. That’s why I’m not giving prices or room numbers. If your trip hinges on this hotel, contact them first.

Julijana, the hotel restaurant

Down the hotel’s wide steps towards the shore is Julijana, a small restaurant seating just over 20, with views of the lake. It’s run by chef Simon Bertoncelj, held the Michelin Plate in 2020 and 2021 and a Michelin Guide Slovenia recommendation from 2022 to 2025, and Gault&Millau gives it three toques. It also carries the Bled Local Selection certificate, with a menu of Gorenjska produce. With the hotel under renovation, check that the restaurant is open too.
