Cerklje na Gorenjskem, Kamnik-Savinja Alps
Krvavec, Ljubljana's ski mountain
- Slopes
- 30 km, from 1,450 to 1,971 m
- Usual season
- Early December to end of March
- From Ljubljana
- About 25 km
Krvavec is the ski resort closest to Ljubljana: it's about 25 km from the capital and 10 minutes from the airport, at Cerklje na Gorenjskem. It has 30 km of slopes between 1,450 and 1,971 m, and the season usually runs from early December to the end of March. In summer the cable car takes you up to a bike park, an adventure park and a paragliding launch.
For me Krvavec is the sensible resort if you have only a few days or are flying into Ljubljana with your skis. I'd buy the pass from the online shop, where it's cheaper, and in summer I'd ride up even without a bike, for the views over the Kamnik Alps.
Is it worth it?
Yes
For a short ski trip from Ljubljana it's the obvious pick: 30 km of slopes up to 1,971 m, 25 km from the capital. Don't expect the size of the big Alpine resorts, though.
My key points
Worth knowing about Krvavec
-
01 Getting there
Ten minutes from the airport
The Slovenian Tourist Board says Krvavec is just 10 minutes from an international airport and the closest ski resort to Ljubljana.
Ljubljana Airport -
02 To save money
October pre-sale
In October 2026 the resort was selling 2026-27 passes in advance, with two- to five-day tickets and season passes at reduced prices.
skiing in Slovenia -
03 Worth the splurge
Dinner inside a cable car
For cable-car dinners, the Krvavec gondolas become small private dining rooms with the Kamnik-Savinja Alps in front of you.
Cerklje na Gorenjskem -
04 Most beautiful
Paragliding by cable car
The tourist board says Krvavec is a very popular launch thanks to how close it is to Ljubljana; the cable car carries pilots up and tandem flights make it easy to start.

What I would book
Skiing at Krvavec: slopes and passes
The resort has 30 km of groomed slopes between 1,450 and 1,971 m, with natural and artificial snow, and varied terrain that works for both beginners and experienced skiers. The season usually runs from early December to the end of March. There’s a giant slalom course, a snow park, ski schools and courses for children and beginners, equipment hire, ski touring and night sledding. The resort bills itself as the best in Slovenia as chosen by skiers; to compare it with the others, see the guide to skiing in Slovenia.
Passes are cheaper from the online shop. In October 2026 the 2026-27 passes were on sale in advance, with multi-day tickets and season passes; the pre-sale prices are in the table.
Krvavec in summer: bike park and cable car
In summer the cable car takes you up to the pastures, and the ride alone is worth it. At the top there’s an adventure park, mountain go-karts, scooters and bikes, and for children the shepherd dwarves’ trail, with a goblin garden, a shepherd’s hut and a mountain of sounds. Walkers have marked paths across the pastures and home cooking in the huts.
The bike park has 6 marked trails and about 1,200 m of descent from Hotel Krvavec to the lower cable car station, the biggest elevation difference of any bike park in Slovenia according to the resort and Visit Kranj. The Jezerca trail, opened in 2018, joins the upper and lower parts in a descent of almost 10 km and over 1,000 m, and since 2023 the park has been part of the GravityCard, which brings together 21 European bike parks.
Paragliding and Plečnik’s chapel
Krvavec is a very popular paragliding launch because it’s so close to Ljubljana. The cable car carries pilots up and good conditions allow tandem flights, so it’s a fine place for a first flight; there’s more in the guide to paragliding in Slovenia. On cable-car dinners the gondolas become small private dining rooms. And at 1,700 m there’s a small chapel to Our Lady of the Snows designed by Jože Plečnik.
Once your dates are set, check which hotels are still free in Cerklje na Gorenjskem before prices climb.
Where to stay at Krvavec
Alpine-style Hotel Krvavec describes itself as the highest hotel in Slovenia, and the Muštrinka apartments sit close to the slopes. Heading down to sleep in Cerklje, Kranj or even Ljubljana is easy too, so you can combine a ski day with a city break.
Getting there from Ljubljana and the airport
The resort lies in the municipality of Cerklje na Gorenjskem, on the edge of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, about 25 km from Ljubljana. From Ljubljana airport it’s roughly a 10-minute drive to the valley station of the cable car, so you can ski on the day you land.
If you would rather have a local show you round, book a guided tour in Krvavec and choose by the reviews.
