Getting there
Flying to Ljubljana from Britain, and when it's worth flying elsewhere
- London Gatwick
- easyJet, year-round
- London Luton
- easyJet, since 26 Oct 2026
- Manchester
- easyJet
Flights to Ljubljana from the UK: easyJet flies from London Gatwick year-round, from Manchester and, since 26 October 2026, from London Luton. In summer 2026 British Airways also flew from Heathrow and easyJet from Edinburgh, both until 19 October. Anything else means a change in Frankfurt, Zurich, Paris or Amsterdam, or flying into a neighbouring airport such as Venice or Trieste.
Direct routes between the UK and Ljubljana (2026-27 timetable)
| UK airport | Airline | Season |
|---|---|---|
| London Gatwick | easyJet | Year-round |
| London Luton | easyJet | Since 26 October 2026 |
| Manchester | easyJet | Through winter 2026-27 |
| London Heathrow | British Airways | Summer 2026, until 19 October |
| Edinburgh | easyJet | Summer 2026, until 19 October |
Ljubljana Airport flight timetable (lju-airport.si), checked on 17 October 2026. Airlines change schedules by season; always check with them.
From London, I'd book the direct easyJet flight and not overthink it. From elsewhere in the UK, I'd always compare a one-stop flight to Ljubljana with a direct one to Venice or Trieste plus a coach, because Slovenia starts an hour from Trieste.

The practical bit
Before you go to Slovenia, this
-
01 Getting there
Gatwick, the year-round route
easyJet's Gatwick service appears throughout the airport's 2026-27 timetable, with several flights a week. Since 26 October 2026 easyJet has also flown from London Luton for the winter.
Ljubljana Airport -
02 My tip
Heathrow and Edinburgh are summer-only
British Airways from Heathrow and easyJet from Edinburgh appear in the airport's timetable until 19 October 2026. Check the airlines for the 2027 summer schedule.
-
03 Most beautiful
Manchester for the north
easyJet also flies Manchester-Ljubljana, listed in the airport's timetable through the 2026-27 winter. For northern England, it saves a trip down to London.
-
04 To save money
Venice or Trieste plus a coach
The Slovenian Tourist Board puts Trieste airport 94 km and Venice 230 km from Ljubljana, with GoOpti and Nomago transfers to Ljubljana. It can work out cheaper than a connection.

My checklist before setting off
Direct flights to Ljubljana from London
easyJet’s Gatwick-Ljubljana route runs throughout the airport’s 2026-27 timetable, with several flights a week, and since 26 October 2026 easyJet has added London Luton for the winter. In summer 2026 British Airways also flew from Heathrow, until 19 October. For most Londoners, that’s the easiest way in. On landing, Ljubljana is about 26 km away, and Arriva’s public bus drops you at the central station. How to get out of the terminal is in Ljubljana Airport.
From Manchester, and Edinburgh in summer
easyJet also flies from Manchester, listed in the airport’s timetable right through the 2026-27 winter. Edinburgh appears only until 19 October 2026, so for Scotland it’s a summer option; the 2027 summer schedule will be the airline’s to confirm. For Bristol, Birmingham or Belfast, you’re looking at a connection or a flight to a neighbouring airport.
Flights to Ljubljana with one change
If there’s no direct flight from your airport, the natural connections are with the airlines that fly into Ljubljana from their hubs, Lufthansa from Frankfurt, Swiss from Zurich, Air France from Paris, KLM from Amsterdam and Turkish Airlines from Istanbul, plus Brussels Airlines from Brussels. The airport notes that the Lufthansa Group links Ljubljana to the world via Zurich, Frankfurt, Munich and Brussels.
If you are staying the night, see the best hotel deals in Ljubljana for your dates: the well-placed rooms go fast.
Flying into Venice, Trieste or Zagreb instead
Sometimes, and for me it’s the big decision of the trip. The Slovenian Tourist Board gives the road distances to Ljubljana, Trieste 94 km, Klagenfurt 145 km, Zagreb 153 km, Graz 218 km and Venice 230 km, and says GoOpti runs transfers from neighbouring airports and Nomago has routes from Venice, Vienna and others. If your local airport has a direct flight to Venice or Trieste, compare it with the connection; the total time can be similar and the fare lower. It’s all in airports near Slovenia, and the route from Italy is in Venice to Ljubljana.
Why I don’t quote fares
I don’t give fares or flight times, because I don’t have a stable official source to cite and prices change daily. Nor can I promise the timetable will stay the same; airlines change it by season, so check their website on the day you book. One thing to look forward to, though, from 12 May 2027 United will fly Newark-Ljubljana four times a week, according to the airport. Every way of getting there, flying included, is in how to get to Slovenia. When you land, put your watch forward an hour, as Slovenian time runs an hour ahead of British time; details in time in Slovenia.
So you do not lose the morning at the ticket office, browse tickets and tours in Ljubljana on GetYourGuide.
