Where to stay in Bled comes down to four options, the east-shore hotels by the centre and the thermal springs; the quiet villas on the south shore; the campsite on the west shore and the glamping sites; and villages in the municipality such as Ribno or Zasip. In 2026 the Grand Hotel Toplice is under renovation, so its natural thermal water isn't always available.

    My verdict

    Yes

Sleeping in Bled is worth it if you choose the shore to suit your trip. The east side works without a car, the south side for peace, and both need booking early in July and August.

On a first visit without a car, I'd stay on the east shore near the centre, with the castle and the pletna boats a stroll away. With a car and a taste for quiet, the south shore or Ribno. In July and August, book well ahead.

What I would book for Bled

    Before you go

What the official sites leave out

    1. 01 Worth the splurge

A hotel with thermal lake water

Three hotels on the east shore have pools filled from the lake's thermal springs. The Grand Hotel Toplice uses it unheated at 22°C, but is being renovated in 2026.

      Sleep in Tito's residence

Vila Bled, on the south shore and set in a park, was Tito's summer residence and is now a hotel with rooms in 1950s style.

Camping and glamping, the budget choice

Camp Bled sits at the western tip of the lake, and the Sava group also runs two glamping sites. From the campsite, the Ojstrica viewpoint is right next door.

    4. 04 My tip

Ask for the Julian Alps Card

The Julian Alps guest card, issued by some Bled accommodation, takes 10% off Bled Castle entry. Ask when you book whether your place offers it.

      Bled Castle
    5. 05 Getting there

If Bled is full, try Radovljica

Radovljica is 8 km away and has a free shuttle to Bled in July and August. It's a good fallback when the lake is fully booked.

      Radovljica

East shore, best for walking everywhere

This is the centre, the lakeside promenade and the Spa Park. Here you’ll find the Sava group’s big hotels, Hotel Park, Rikli Balance Hotel, Hotel Savica and the Grand Hotel Toplice, plus Wellness Živa, the largest wellness centre in Bled according to the tourist board. Three of them fill their pools from the lake’s thermal springs, which rise on precisely this shore.

The upside is that the castle, the pletna landing in front of Hotel Park, restaurants and the bus stop are all a short walk away. The catch is that this is the busiest part of town in July and August. The Grand Hotel Toplice, the only one offering the thermal water unheated, is being renovated in 2026, so check it has reopened before counting on it.

    South shore, the quiet side

On the south shore towards Mlino the feel is villas and parkland. The best known is Vila Bled, Tito’s former residence and now a hotel with 1950s rooms, a private beach and the Belvedere café above it. Pletna boats leave Mlino for the island and the view across the water is lovely. On the other hand, dinner in the centre means a walk or the summer bus.

    Camping and glamping

At the western tip, at Velika Zaka, is Camp Bled, run by the Sava group, as are its two glamping sites, one aimed at families. It’s the cheapest option and the closest to nature, with the Ojstrica viewpoint twenty minutes uphill and the shore quiet at dawn.

Ribno, Zasip and away from the lake

On Kolodvorska cesta, about 650 m from the lake, is Hotel Triglav Bled, with a Michelin-recommended restaurant. If you’re driving, the villages of the municipality are a good idea. Ribno has the Ribno Alpine Resort, and Zasip, the pear village, sits next to Vintgar Gorge. If everything’s full, Radovljica, 8 km away, has a free shuttle to Bled in July and August.

    Where I’d stay in Bled

For a first visit of two nights, the east shore near the centre. For a couple with time on their hands, the south shore. With children and a tight budget, the campsite or the family glamping site. Either way, ask when booking whether your place gives out the Julian Alps Card for Bled, worth 10% off at the castle, and get a lake-view room if you can stretch to it, because it’s what changes a stay most. Everything else about the town is in the Bled guide.
