In winter with children, I'd take one of the big central hotels, with a pool and right by the slopes. In summer as a couple, a small one by Lake Jasna or in Gozd Martuljek. For the World Cup or Planica, I'd book as soon as the dates are out.

What I would check before going

Hotels by the slopes, in the centre

The two largest hotels stand on Borovška cesta. Hotel Kompas, which its listing calls the biggest in the village, has 156 rooms, a wellness centre with a pool and saunas, a pool with a water slide and children’s programmes, and sits next to the slopes. The Ramada Resort has 118 rooms, a glass-enclosed water park and wellness, beside the slopes and a hundred metres from the centre, and describes itself as repeatedly named Slovenia’s best ski hotel.

For something smaller and family-run, Garni hotel Miklič, three-star, sits at the foot of Vitranc next to the piste, with 15 rooms, a children’s playroom and a ski room with boot warmers. The Skipass Hotel, opened in 2012, is 300 metres from the slopes and 200 from the centre, and Hotel Lipa is known for its restaurant. If the slopes are your priority, see also the Kranjska Gora ski resort guide.

    Small Michelin Guide hotels

In 2026 the Michelin Guide included three Kranjska Gora properties for the first time, Vila Pavlina, the Triangel Boutique Hotel and Milka. Milka is the most special. It’s on Vršiška cesta, on the shore of Lake Jasna, with just six rooms, all looking over the lake, a private sauna for two and a two-Michelin-star restaurant. Vila Pavlina is an apartment residence in the centre with a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi.

Gozd Martuljek, for a summer stay

A few kilometres east, Gozd Martuljek gathers some of the valley’s most carefully run places. Chalet Sofija has two Michelin Keys, among the five Keys Michelin gave Slovenian properties in 2026. The Triangel Boutique Hotel, at the foot of the Martuljek group, has 11 rooms, 4 suites, a restaurant and wellness, and the Hotel Špik Alpine Resort, opened in 2009, prides itself on its wellness centre and quiet setting. From here the Martuljek waterfalls are a stroll away.

    Other options

For a different atmosphere, the Korona has 24 rooms, 6 suites, wellness and a casino open around the clock. The Tourism Kranjska Gora website also lists apartments, holiday houses, campsites and mountain huts. And if you want a base right by Vrata and Triglav’s north face, Mojstrana is the alternative. For the rest of the village, see the Kranjska Gora guide.

If you would rather have a local show you round, book a guided tour in Kranjska Gora and choose by the reviews.
