Where to stay in Cyprus
Beachfront hotels in Cyprus
Some Cyprus hotels sit right on the sand, like Adams Beach and Nissi Beach Resort on Nissi beach or Asterias at Makronissos, and others have their own cove, such as Elysium, Cap St. Georges or Crystal Springs. In Kato Paphos, by contrast, many seafront hotels face the promenade, and for a long sandy beach you head to Coral Bay.

- Adams Beach, Nissi Beach Resort and Asterias sit on the sand in Ayia Napa.
- Elysium, Cap St. Georges and Crystal Springs have their own coves.
- Coral Beach has 300 metres of beach in Coral Bay.
- In Kato Paphos, seafront usually means the promenade.
Beachfront doesn't always mean sand. I'd check the map to see whether there's a proper beach, a cove or a promenade in front, because in Kato Paphos that makes a real difference to the holiday.

What I would keep in mind
-
01 Most beautiful
Right on Nissi beach
Adams Beach presents itself on the sands of Nissi, with beachfront suites, and Nissi Beach Resort has seaside bungalows set in 100,000 m² of gardens.
Nissi Beach -
02 Worth the splurge
A cove for the hotel
Cap St. Georges in Peyia has a 130-metre cove framed by olive trees, and Elysium in Paphos a lavender path down to its sandy cove.

03 My tip
In Paphos, check the map
Athena Beach and Alexander the Great are seafront hotels in Kato Paphos, but they face the promenade. For a long sandy beach, Coral Bay is about 11 km away.

What I would book
«Beachfront» is a promise every hotel reads differently. For some it means opening your bungalow door onto sand, for others a cove reached by a garden path, and for others a promenade with the sea beyond. Cyprus has all three, and here I separate them using what each hotel’s website says. For the full regional overview, see where to stay in Cyprus.
On the sand, in Ayia Napa and Protaras
The south-east is the land of fine sand. Adams Beach Hotel presents itself right on Nissi beach, with palms, gardens and beachfront suites. Nearby, Nissi Beach Resort has the same beach on its doorstep, with seaside bungalows set in 100,000 m² of gardens. A little further west, Asterias Beach is practically on Makronissos beach, white sand and very clear water according to its website, and east of the centre, Alion Beach overlooks the beach its site calls Glyko Nero.
In Protaras, Golden Coast faces Louma beach, kept calm by a breakwater, and Crystal Springs has gardens running down to a sandy cove on Vrisoudia bay. More in Protaras hotels.
With their own cove, in Paphos and Peyia
Here the beaches are smaller and more sheltered. Elysium, next to the Tombs of the Kings, has a lavender-lined path down to a protected sandy cove. Further north, at Agios Georgios, Cap St. Georges boasts a 130-metre cove surrounded by olive trees. And at Coral Bay, Coral Beach Hotel has 300 metres of beach and a small harbour. In Chloraka, King Evelthon gives direct access to the beach on the bay.
Once your dates are set, check which hotels are still free in Ayia Napa before prices climb.
Does seafront in Paphos mean sand?
Not always, and it’s worth knowing before you book. In Kato Paphos, hotels such as Athena Beach and Alexander the Great are on the seafront, but what’s in front of them is the promenade, which takes you on foot to the harbour. For a long sandy beach, the reference point in the area is Coral Bay, about 11 km away, where Coral Beach stands. What’s along each stretch of coast is covered in Paphos beaches, and I’d always look at photos before choosing.
Limassol, the five-star coast
In Limassol the beach hotels line the eastern coast. Atlantica Miramare, in Germasogeia, has direct access to the sand with loungers at the water’s edge. Amathus Beach has its own beach and a floating waterpark, and Four Seasons and St Raphael also front the sea on the same stretch. West of the city, Columbia Beach Resort is listed in the official register at Pissouri Bay, set in 75,000 m² of gardens, a quieter alternative to the Amathus strip for those happy to drive into town. There’s more in Limassol hotels.
If you would rather have a local show you round, book a guided tour in Ayia Napa and choose by the reviews.
And in Larnaca
Larnaca has few large beach hotels in town. The clearest example is Golden Bay Hotel, a five-star that describes itself as seafront, at the end of the tourist strip heading towards Dhekelia, about 10 km from the centre. For a town-centre stay, the Finikoudes promenade has hotels facing an urban beach, as covered in Larnaca beaches.
Is it worth paying more to be on the sand?
For me, yes in two cases. With small children, because reaching the beach without crossing a road changes the whole day. And on short breaks, because every hour counts and you don’t want to spend it getting to the sea. If you’re hiring a car to explore the island, though, beachfront matters less and you widen your choice to hotels a few minutes from the water.
A car frees you from timetables: search car hire in Ayia Napa on DiscoverCars and compare companies.
How I’d check
Before booking, I’d open the map and look at three things. Whether there’s a road between the hotel and the water. Whether it’s sand, cove or rock in front. And whether the beach is public or run by the hotel, which only its website will tell you. The 2026 Blue Flag status of each beach is left out, as no source I can use lists it.
Once your dates are set, check which hotels are still free in Ayia Napa before prices climb.

Frequently asked questions
Which hotels in Cyprus are right on the beach?
According to their websites, Adams Beach and Nissi Beach Resort on Nissi beach, Asterias at Makronissos, Coral Beach in Coral Bay and Atlantica Miramare in Limassol, among others.
Which Cyprus hotels have a private beach?
In Cyprus it's more a case of the hotel's own cove than a private beach. Cap St. Georges has a 130-metre cove and Elysium a sheltered sandy one, according to their sites.
Where's best for a beachfront stay in Cyprus?
For sand, Ayia Napa and Protaras, with Nissi, Makronissos and the Protaras coast, plus Coral Bay near Paphos. In Kato Paphos many hotels face the promenade.
Are there beachfront hotels in Limassol?
Yes, along the eastern coast, such as Four Seasons, Amathus Beach with its own beach, St Raphael and Atlantica Miramare, with direct access to the sand.
Does beachfront always mean sand in front?
Not always. In Kato Paphos, for example, several seafront hotels sit on the promenade, and their websites don't always make clear what's at the water's edge.
