When to visit Cyprus
Cyprus in autumn, the summer that lingers
In autumn coastal highs in Cyprus fall from 31 °C in September to 23 °C in November, and the rain doesn't properly return until November. September and October are still busy, with 179,293 and 168,792 visitors from the UK in 2025, and October has two national holidays, on the 1st and the 28th.

- From 31 °C in September to 23 °C in November on the coast.
- October, with two national holidays and fewer crowds.
- A quiet November and the start of the Christmas villages.
Autumn is my favourite season in Cyprus. September is still summer, October strikes the best balance between warmth and crowds, and November is ideal for villages and wineries.

What I would book
If I had to pick one season for Cyprus, it would be autumn. Summer stretches into September, October is warm and still good for the beach, and November calls for villages, wineries and towns. My figures come from the WMO and CYSTAT, plus the Central Bank and Hermes. To compare with other seasons, see Cyprus weather.
Temperatures and rain
In Larnaca the high falls from 31.4 °C in September to 28.3 °C in October and 23.4 °C in November, with lows from 20.5 °C to 12.9 °C. Paphos is similar, a degree or two cooler in the September heat and almost identical by November, and Nicosia is the warmest in September, at 33.6 °C. Rain stays scarce until October, at 9 and 11.6 mm, and returns in November with 32.5 mm over 5 days. In the Troodos, Prodromos goes from 24.7 °C in September to 13.5 °C in November.
Flights
Hermes Airports’ summer 2026 schedule runs until October, when UK flights begin to fall away, so check the winter timetable if you’re going in November. Gatwick, Heathrow and Manchester serve both Larnaca and Paphos in season, as I explain in flights to Cyprus.
To sleep close to everything, search places to stay in Limassol on Expedia and filter by area before price.
October holidays
The Central Bank of Cyprus marks 1 October as Independence Day and 28 October as Greek National Day. In 2026 they fall on a Thursday and a Wednesday, and in 2027 on a Friday and a Thursday. They’re listed in public holidays in Cyprus.
Wine and harvest
Larnaca’s tourism board says Ktima Christoudia, in Kato Drys, runs harvest experiences in autumn, and in the Limassol villages around ten wineries open for tastings, as I explain in Cypriot wine.
If you are short on time, see the best tours in Limassol and pick one that fits your day.
Visitors
According to CYSTAT, 570,635 visitors arrived in September 2025 and 537,744 in October, still high-season figures, falling to 234,580 in November. From the UK the drop is steeper, from 168,792 in October to 53,267 in November, so a November trip feels very different from one in early autumn.
Autumn, ever busier
This is the season that has grown most. According to CYSTAT, September 2025 had 12 % more visitors than in 2024, October 17.1 % more and November 30.4 % more. Even so, November remains far below summer, with less than half October’s arrivals.
Where the bus does not go, a car does: compare car hire in Limassol before you arrive rather than at the desk.
What to pack
Summer clothes for September, something long-sleeved for October evenings and a jacket and waterproof for November, when the rain returns and coastal lows drop to around 13 °C.
And then Christmas
On 21 November 2026 the Deputy Ministry of Tourism’s nine Christmas villages open, from Agros to Lefkara and Fikardou, running until 6 January 2027. Until the end of October, though, gov.uk’s warning about a high wildfire risk still applies.
Month by month, autumn is covered in Cyprus in September, Cyprus in October and Cyprus in November. Its big events have their own pages, the Pafos Aphrodite Festival, the Limassol Wine Festival and Cyprus Independence Day.
