Hotels in Larnaca, next to the airport
Larnaca is the handiest base if you're flying in, as the airport is about 6 km away in a straight line. The official list of August 2026 records 101 places to stay in the area, but only around 5,900 beds, because nearly half are traditional houses in villages. There are 38 hotels, two of them five-star.

- Larnaca has 101 registered places to stay but few beds.
- Nearly half are traditional village houses.
- There are two five-star hotels.
- The airport is about 6 km away.
I'd stay in Larnaca for the first or last night of a trip, close to the Finikoudes promenade. For something different, a traditional house in a village such as Kalavasos or Lefkara.

Cyprus roaming
What I would book
Larnaca is usually the first and last place you see in Cyprus, since its airport handles the most flights. As a place to stay, though, it has an unusual profile, which I spotted while going through the Larnaca pages of the official register from this August. Here’s what it shows. Every other area is compared in where to stay in Cyprus.
Lots of places, few beds
The Larnaca list records 101 establishments, almost as many as Paphos, but only about 5,900 beds, under a quarter of the total there. The reason is that 47 are traditional houses, mostly small and spread across the district’s villages, and only 38 are hotels. Two of those are five-star, six four-star and eleven three-star, with an unusually high number of two-stars, fifteen. Another thing worth knowing is that only around 24 of those establishments have a final classification. The rest carry the P mark, meaning their rating stays indicative until the new hotel law is applied, which matters if you’re choosing on star rating alone.
Town and coast
In town, by the Finikoudes promenade, you’ll find hotels such as five-star Radisson Blu Larnaca and four-star Sun Hall. The regional tourism board notes free Wi-Fi along the entire promenade and beach. To the east, on the Dhekelia road, stand the biggest beach hotels, Golden Bay, Sandy Beach and Lordos Beach. The largest on the list, Robinson Club Cyprus, is in Alaminos, on the district’s western coast.
If you are staying the night, see the best hotel deals in Larnaca for your dates: the well-placed rooms go fast.
The town, street by street
In the centre, the register places the Radisson Blu Larnaca, a five-star with a final licence and 106 rooms on Atlantidon Street, and the four-star Sun Hall, with 113 on Athens Avenue and a class B apartment block of the same name next door. Leonardo Larnaca, another four-star, has 55. For me the most interesting are the small three-stars, Indigo Larnaca Boutique (40 rooms, Adonidos Street), The Josephine (29, on Zinonos Kitieos), Island Boutique (18) and Lokal Boutique (17, on Agiou Lazarou Street, home to the Church of Saint Lazarus). On the same square stands Opera, a one-star with thirteen rooms. If you want a kitchen, Atrium Zenon is the town’s only class A apartment complex, with 77 units.
The coast towards Dhekelia and the west
East of town, along the Larnaca-Dhekelia road, the register files the beach hotels under the municipalities of Pyla and Oroklini. Besides the five-star Golden Bay, with 193 rooms, there are the four-star Lordos Beach (175) and Sandy Beach (195), and simpler places such as the two-star Mariandy and Lebay Beach. Oroklini has apartments too, such as the class A Mercure Larnaca Beach and the class B Antonis G., Boronia and Frixos. To the west, the four-star Hotel-E has 70 rooms at Pervolia, and at Alaminos the Robinson Club Cyprus is, with 331 rooms and 682 beds, the largest on the whole list.

Village houses
The most distinctive thing here is the traditional houses. Kalavasos has seven on the list, with others in Lefkara, Kato Drys, Maroni and Skarinou. They suit anyone wanting a stone village with Choirokoitia and Lefkara close by, and I set them against the rest of the island in agrotourism in Cyprus. I introduce them in the prettiest villages in Cyprus. By village, Tochni has nine entries, three of them Eveleos Country House, and Skarinou another seven. Lefkara has five houses and a one-star hotel, Lefkarama, and there are single houses at Kato Drys, Vavla, Psematismenos, Choirokoitia, Maroni, Athienou and Agios Theodoros, nearly all with fewer than ten beds.
Is Larnaca right for you?
I’d stay in Larnaca on arrival or departure night, especially with an early flight, since the airport is about 6 km away as the crow flies. Everything about the terminal is in Larnaca Airport. For a week by the sea, the east coast has far more choice, as I explain in Ayia Napa hotels. Larnaca also suits a short city break, with the seafront, the old town around Saint Lazarus and the salt lake all within a small area, and it’s a sensible base if you want to split a week between the coast and the Troodos. On price, the town has 15 two-star hotels on the register, weighed against the rest of the island in cheap hotels in Cyprus.
If you would rather go at your own pace, see the car hire deals in Larnaca: the earlier you book, the more cars are left to choose from.
