In February coastal highs in Cyprus stay around 17.7 °C, but there's much less rain than in January, 61 mm in Larnaca. The ski season continues on Olympus, visitors are few, 133,760 in 2025 according to CYSTAT, and in 2026 Green Monday fell on 23 February.

  • Coast at 17.7 °C and less rain than January.
  • Skiing on Olympus and few visitors.
  • Green Monday on 23 Feb 2026; in March in 2027.

February strikes me as an improved January. Less rain, mountains that may still be snowy and an island that's still quiet. Not for the beach, but for walking round Paphos or Nicosia it's a very rewarding month.

    where to stay in Cyprus

What I would book

February is Cyprus’s last month of proper winter, and to my mind one of the most underrated. The coast stays mild, there’s less rain than in January and the mountains may still have snow. Here’s what to expect, from WMO, CYSTAT and Central Bank data. If you’re torn between months, start with Cyprus in winter.

February weather

Average highs are almost January’s, 17.7 °C in Larnaca and 17.6 °C in Paphos, with lows of 7.8 and 9.4 °C. The big difference is the rain, which drops to 61.1 mm in Larnaca and 73.8 mm in Paphos, over around 10 or 11 days. Nicosia stays at a 16.3 °C high. At Prodromos, in the Troodos, the high is 7.7 °C and 131.7 mm of rain falls.

Snow and skiing

February normally falls within the Olympus ski season, which the Cyprus Ski Club places between January and March. There are four lifts and runs for all levels. Even if you don’t ski, the road up towards Olympus through snowy pines is worth the trip, with care and after reading the ski club’s road update. The four lifts and what a day costs are set out in skiing in Cyprus.

Green Monday

It’s a public holiday whose date changes every year. The Central Bank of Cyprus had it on Monday 23 February in 2026, and in 2027 it falls on 15 March. The other holidays are in public holidays in Cyprus.

Low season

According to CYSTAT, 133,760 visitors arrived in February 2025 and 146,516 in February 2026. From the UK, 33,115 came in February 2025, still well below the summer months. It’s low season, with the island practically to yourself, and the best time to see busy places such as the Paphos mosaics in peace.

So you do not lose the morning at the ticket office, browse tickets and tours in Paphos on GetYourGuide.

Compared with 2024

According to CYSTAT, February 2025 brought 7 % more visitors than a year earlier, and February 2026 saw 146,516, up again. From the UK, 33,115 came in February 2025, almost double January, and 28,217 in February 2026.

What to pack

Much as for January, with a little less worry about rain. Layers for the coast, where nights drop to around 8 or 9 °C, and a coat, gloves and good shoes if you plan to go up Olympus. In the mountains February’s high doesn’t reach 8 °C and nights are close to freezing, so come prepared for the cold.

If you would rather go at your own pace, see the car hire deals in Paphos: the earlier you book, the more cars are left to choose from.

What I’d do

Towns and ancient sites at an easy pace, a day in the Troodos depending on the forecast and trips to inland villages, ideally timed for a long lunch somewhere warm. Pack for both the coast and the mountains, as the two can feel a season apart on the same day. If you’re after sun and sea, wait for spring, which arrives in Cyprus in March with a little more warmth.

If you’re weighing up the month before, Cyprus in January covers the quietest time of the year.
