When to visit Cyprus
Cyprus in October, my favourite month
In October Cyprus has a 28.3 °C high in Larnaca and little rain, 11.6 mm. There are two national holidays, the 1st and the 28th, Hermes's summer schedule from UK airports runs to the end of the month, and 168,792 visitors arrived from the UK in October 2025, according to CYSTAT.

- 28 °C on the coast and little rain.
- The last month of the summer flight schedule.
- Public holidays on the 1st and the 28th.
If I could go to Cyprus in only one month, it would be October. Coastal highs are around 27 or 28 °C, crowds thin out after summer and it's still within the summer flight schedule from UK airports.

01 Getting there
Last month of summer flights
Hermes's summer 2026 schedule runs until October, so it's the last month with the full range of UK routes.

02 Worth the splurge

In 2026 Cyprus marked 66 years of independence with the military parade in Nicosia, on Iosif Hadjiosif avenue.

In Larnaca the high drops to 28.3 °C and the low to 17.4 °C, comfortable for both beach and sightseeing.
Cyprus weather
What I would book
On paper, October is my favourite month for Cyprus. It’s beach-warm without August’s crush, there are fewer people, two holidays with atmosphere and it’s still within the summer flight schedule from UK airports. I’ve drawn on WMO and CYSTAT figures, Central Bank holidays and the Hermes Airports schedule. For the season, see Cyprus in autumn.
October weather
In Larnaca the average high is 28.3 °C and the low 17.4 °C; in Paphos, 26.8 and 17.8 °C. Nicosia eases to 28.8 °C. Rain starts to appear, with 11.6 mm in Larnaca and 21.4 mm in Paphos, over about four days. Up at Prodromos, the high falls to 19.8 °C. The sea, though, still averages around 24.6 to 25.3 °C, as I set out in Cyprus sea temperature.
Two holidays
The Central Bank of Cyprus lists two holidays this month, Independence Day on the 1st and Greek National Day on the 28th. They fell on a Thursday and a Wednesday in 2026, and fall on a Friday and a Thursday in 2027. On 1 October 2026, according to the Cypriot press, Cyprus marked 66 years of independence with the military parade in Nicosia, on Iosif Hadjiosif avenue at 11:00, and two naval vessels could be visited at Larnaca port that day. I cover it in Cyprus Independence Day.

Flights from the UK
Hermes’s summer 2026 schedule runs until October, with routes to Larnaca and Paphos from London, Manchester, Birmingham and many regional airports. After that the winter timetable applies, as I explain in flights to Cyprus.
How busy it is
According to CYSTAT, 537,744 visitors arrived in October 2025, 17.1 % more than in October 2024. From the UK, 168,792 came. That’s fewer than in summer, but still very much the season.
If you are short on time, see the best tours in Paphos and pick one that fits your day.
The end of the Wine Festival
The 2026 Limassol Wine Festival, which opened on 26 September in the Municipal Gardens, closed on 4 October, according to Limassol’s tourism board. I cover it in the Limassol Wine Festival.
What to pack
Summer clothes for the day, a light jacket for the evening and something for the rain, just in case. Until the 31st, gov.uk still rates the wildfire risk as high.
Where the bus does not go, a car does: compare car hire in Paphos before you arrive rather than at the desk.
Compared with 2024
October is one of the fastest-growing months. According to CYSTAT, 2025 brought 17.1 % more visitors than October 2024. Autumn in Cyprus is no longer low season, and October proves it.
The mountains in October
At Prodromos, in the Troodos, October has a 19.8 °C high and an 11.1 °C low, with 37.4 mm of rain over about five days. It’s a good time for mountain walks without the summer heat, with a jacket for the afternoon.
To sleep close to everything, search places to stay in Paphos on Booking.com and filter by area before price.
My October plan
Paphos or Limassol as a base, beach in the morning, ancient sites and wineries in the afternoon. If you’d prefer more heat, Cyprus in September; for peace and quiet, Cyprus in November.
