When to visit Cyprus
Cyprus in April, the season gets going
In April the Cyprus coast reaches a 23 °C high and rain drops to 16 mm in Larnaca. The season starts, with 151,883 UK visitors in April 2025 according to CYSTAT, summer flights from British airports begin and the 1st is a national holiday. In 2026 Orthodox Easter fell between the 10th and the 14th.

- 23 °C on the coast and little rain.
- The season and the summer flight schedule begin.
- National holiday on the 1st; Easter in April or May.
April is one of my favourite months for Cyprus. It's T-shirt warm without being oppressive, the ancient sites are a pleasure to explore and the summer flight schedule from UK airports kicks in. I'd just check the Easter dates first.

Good walking weather
With 23 °C highs in Larnaca and 21.7 °C in Paphos, it's a good month for mosaics, castles and short walks.

Summer schedule starts
Hermes's summer 2026 schedule shows around 85 weekly UK arrivals at Larnaca and about 105 at Paphos in April.

What I would book
In April Cyprus starts its season, and you can feel it everywhere. The weather is good, the summer flight schedule from UK airports begins and the island starts to fill up without the crush of summer. My sources are the WMO, CYSTAT, the Central Bank and Hermes Airports. For the season as a whole, see Cyprus in spring.
April weather
In Larnaca the average high is 23 °C and the low 12 °C, and in Paphos 21.7 and 12.7 °C. Nicosia climbs to 24.3 °C. There’s little rain, around 16 or 17 mm on the coast over 5 or 6 days. In the Troodos, Prodromos reaches a 15.7 °C high, with 49.7 mm of rain.
Easter and holidays
1 April is Cyprus National Day, according to the Central Bank. Orthodox Easter moves every year, as I explain in Easter in Cyprus. The 2026 Easter had Good Friday on the 10th, followed by two more days off, Monday 13 and Tuesday 14. In 2027 Good Friday falls on 30 April and Easter Monday in May. If you’re travelling around those weeks, book early; the calendar is in public holidays in Cyprus.
If you are staying the night, see the best hotel deals in Paphos for your dates: the well-placed rooms go fast.
The season begins
According to CYSTAT, 418,730 visitors arrived in April 2025, more than double March, and 303,031 in April 2026. Arrivals from the UK jumped to 151,883 in April 2025 and 118,742 in April 2026. It’s the first month that feels like the season, though still far from August’s 600,000.
Flights from the UK
In April, Hermes Airports’ 2026 summer timetable lists roughly 85 weekly flights in from the UK at Larnaca and about 105 at Paphos, from Gatwick, Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and several regional airports. More detail in flights to Cyprus.
So you do not lose the morning at the ticket office, browse tickets and tours in Paphos on GetYourGuide.
A warning
gov.uk treats April to October as high-risk months for wildfires and suggests signing your phone up to the emergency alert system. In the countryside, no fires of any kind.
Compared with the year before
April is one of the fastest-growing months, with CYSTAT recording a 25.5 % rise in 2025 on the previous April. In 2026 the total fell to 303,031.
If you would rather go at your own pace, see the car hire deals in Paphos: the earlier you book, the more cars are left to choose from.
What to pack
Light daytime clothes, a jacket after dark, when the coast drops to around 12 °C, and sun cream, because the sun is already strong even when the temperature is mild. For the Troodos, an extra layer, as the high there is still under 16 °C.
My April plan
Paphos for the mosaics and the coast, a day in Nicosia and another in the Troodos, now that the mountains are mild. And if it coincides with Easter, spend it in a village, bearing in mind these are public holidays and it’s worth checking opening times for whatever you want to see.
To compare with the months either side, see Cyprus in March and Cyprus in May, and for the whole year, the best time to visit Cyprus.
If you are staying the night, see the best hotel deals in Paphos for your dates: the well-placed rooms go fast.
