  • A four-star in Protaras with 193 rooms.
  • Run by Tsokkos, the largest chain in Cyprus by its own account.
  • Its facilities aren't published in a readable source.

For its size and location in Protaras, it suits a no-fuss beach holiday. Since its website doesn't show its facilities in readable form, I'd confirm the pools and board basis before paying.

What I would keep in mind

  1. 01 My tip

    Booking with Tsokkos

The group's website loads hotel details through a booking engine. If you can't see the information, ask in writing what each board basis includes.

    Protaras is out east

What I would book

Anastasia Beach is one of the four-stars the Tsokkos chain runs in Protaras. It’s a big hotel with little readable information outside booking sites, so here’s what’s confirmed and what’s worth asking. Its neighbours are compared in Protaras hotels.

What the list records

The official Paralimni register, which takes in Protaras, gives it four stars and 193 rooms and 386 beds at 24 Afroditis Street. Its rating, marked P, is still being processed. The website given is the group’s, tsokkos.com.

Tsokkos

On its website the group calls itself the largest hotel chain in Cyprus, a company owned by the Tsokkos family with 28 properties on the island, counting hotels, resorts and apartments. Among them on this coast are the Vrissiana hotel and Constantinos the Great, and in Ayia Napa the Dome Beach hotel. In Paphos it runs the King Evelthon hotel, with its waterpark.

The group’s general rules apply here too. Check-in is at 14:00 and check-out at 12:00, early check-in depends on availability and late check-out is charged. Half board includes buffet breakfast and dinner, and all-inclusive adds lunch, snacks, ice cream and unlimited local alcoholic and soft drinks. The group adds that on half board you can swap dinner for lunch by asking reception in advance, that anyone booking on its website must arrange their own travel insurance, and that toiletries and sports facilities such as tennis and table tennis are provided where available.

To sleep close to everything, search places to stay in Anastasia Beach Hotel Protaras on Expedia and filter by area before price.

What I couldn’t check

The hotel’s page on the Tsokkos site loads its details through a booking engine and, read without a browser, shows no pools, restaurants or facilities. So I’m leaving them out. In writing, I’d ask what board basis they offer on your dates, whether there’s a kids’ club and how many minutes’ walk the closest beach is. If the answers come back clear and complete, it’s a reasonable choice.

Where it is

OpenStreetMap places it on Afroditis Street, in the Protaras hotel area. Towards Cape Greco, about four kilometres away, are the Narcissos apartments, graded class A. To the north, right on the coast, are the Golden Coast hotel and the Crystal Springs hotel, the latter with its own cove. To get here, Larnaca is the nearest airport, and the options are in airport transfers.

If you are short on time, see the best tours in Protaras and pick one that fits your day.

My take

Given its size and location, I see it as a decent beach hotel for families and groups wanting Protaras without complications. But given how little is published, I’d rank it behind hotels that show their facilities openly. Confirm the basics before you book. In its favour is the area, close to Cape Greco and its coves, which makes Protaras a good base for exploring the east coast by car, from the capes to the small bays. The area’s most photographed beach, Fig Tree Bay, is within Protaras itself. The other coves nearby are in Protaras beaches.

Where the bus does not go, a car does: compare car hire in Protaras before you arrive rather than at the desk.

To sleep close to everything, search places to stay in Anastasia Beach Hotel Protaras on Booking.com and filter by area before price.
