- A family three-star south of central Protaras.
- Kids' club, heated pools and a beach below the garden.
- Free courtesy rooms for early arrivals.
For a family with children of different ages, I think it's one of the most complete hotels in Protaras in its category. The free courtesy rooms solve awkward flight times very well.

What I would book
South of central Protaras, where the coast starts to face Cape Greco, Cavo Maris is one of the hotels that publishes the most about itself, and almost all of it is aimed at families. I go through it with the official list alongside, because the figures don’t quite match. For alternatives, see Protaras hotels.
Entry and figures
The Paralimni list dated 4 August has it as a three-star hotel with 212 rooms and 403 beds at 4 Vyzakias Street, with the P that leaves the rating indicative. Its website, by contrast, mentions 277 rooms, 31 Elite suites on the fifth floor and 246 superior rooms and junior suites. I haven’t found the reason for the gap, so I give you both figures, and the official one prevails.
Built around children
The Turtle Kids Club is for children between 4 and 12 six days a week, six hours a day, with cooking classes, treasure hunts and face painting, and under-fours can join with an adult. There’s a renovated children’s pool, a separate baby pool, a playground, a games room and, after dinner, a mini disco and shows. Family rooms sleep four, and a few take five or six.

Pools, beach and services
The outdoor and indoor pools are heated. The gardens run down to a fine-sand beach with clear water, according to the hotel, and two smaller ones are a two-minute walk away. There are tennis courts, mini golf at extra cost, a beauty centre, currency exchange at reception and a 48-hour laundry service. Every room has a fridge at no charge, a kettle and a safe, and Wi-Fi is free throughout. Most rooms have twin beds that can be pushed together, and if you add a baby to the booking, a cot is set up without asking.
Arriving early or leaving late
You can check in from 14:00 and must leave by noon. What I like most is its courtesy room centre, five rooms next to showers and changing rooms that it lends free, when available, to guests arriving early or leaving late for the airport.
If you would rather have a local show you round, book a guided tour in Protaras and choose by the reviews.
Surroundings
According to Visit Famagusta, the region’s tourism portal, above Vyzakia beach lies the Neolithic settlement of Nissia, open to the public since 28 July 2025. Fig Tree Bay is 1.5 km away, and along the same road towards the cape are the Narcissos apartments and, less than two kilometres off, the Grecian Park hotel. Towards the centre are the Capo Bay hotel and, further north, the Tsokkos Gardens hotel.
My take
For its children’s facilities, heated pools and those courtesy rooms, Cavo Maris strikes me as one of Protaras’s most sensible choices for families. Vyzakias Street falls within the municipality of Paralimni. There is more sand close by in Protaras beaches.
