- Agros is Pitsilia's village of roses, at 1,100 metres, in Limassol district.
- It holds its rose festival every May.
- It's known for traditional cured meats and sweets.
- It has Cyprus's largest mountain hotel, the Rodon.
Agros is the base I'd choose for exploring Pitsilia. It's central, has hotels and tavernas, and in May, with the rose festival, the village is worth a visit in its own right.

What I would book
Agros is the most practical village in Pitsilia and one of the most pleasant. It has hotels, good food and a product that makes it unmistakable, roses. To tell its story I use the ANETroodos village notes, the churches listing from the Limassol tourism board, the official accommodation list and the census.
The village of roses
The company presents Agros as the village of roses, one of the most interesting in the area. It’s built like an amphitheatre at 1,100 metres and keeps its heritage in a natural setting that preserves its traditional character. At the 2021 census it had 844 residents, in Limassol district.
Besides its rose growing, which the company calls world-renowned, Agros grows grapes and other fruit. Family workshops make rose products, cured meats and sweets, and the company recommends trying sausages, lountza and choiromeri, soutzoukos, traditional sweets and jams. Come in May and you’ll coincide with the annual rose festival.
Churches and museums
The church of Panagia Eleousa was built where the Great Agros monastery once stood. Tradition holds that monks from Kyzikos, in Asia Minor, founded it in the 9th century. The monastery was destroyed in 1894, and the chapel museum displays the iconostasis with 12th-century icons, books and objects from the old monastery. The Department of Antiquities found architectural remains there and tiles of the kind that covered the wooden roofs of the Troodos churches.
The village also has the churches of Timios Prodromos, Agios Gerasimos and Agia Kyriaki. Limassol Tourism describes St John the Baptist as a long 19th-century church of local stone with a very steep tiled roof. The Frangoulides museum is devoted to one of the most important figures of the first generation of Cypriot artists, and the olive press shows the press and tools used for olive oil.
To sleep close to everything, search places to stay in Agros on Expedia and filter by area before price.
Trails
The company mentions three trails around the village, including the Agros to Kato Mylos route, with centuries-old oaks. Kato Mylos itself, at 750 metres, was founded in 1692 according to tradition and keeps a stone bridge among plane trees. From Agros you quickly reach the Madari cliffs and the trails of Kyperounta.
A base for Pitsilia
For the night, Agros is the area’s best option. The mountain hotel list the government published on 4 August 2026 places the Rodon here, with 154 rooms, the largest mountain hotel on the island, and there are village houses. From here you quickly reach Louvaras, with its chapel of Agios Mamas, and the four UNESCO churches of Pitsilia, such as Timios Stavros at Pelendri or Panagia tou Araka. The ones I’d choose are in hotels in the Troodos.
If you are short on time, see the best tours in Agros and pick one that fits your day.
Where the bus does not go, a car does: compare car hire in Limassol before you arrive rather than at the desk.
To sleep close to everything, search places to stay in Agros on Booking.com and filter by area before price.
