Cap St Georges, the five-star on the Peyia headland

- A confirmed five-star at Agios Georgios, Peyia.
- Every room has a sea view.
- A 2,585 m² spa and ten restaurants and bars.
- Its own waterpark and a kids' club.
It's the five-star I'd choose on the Paphos coast to combine luxury with nature, Akamas right next door. The flip side is isolation, because for dinner out you'll depend on a car.

where to stay in Cyprus
What I would book
North of Coral Bay the coast empties out and Akamas country begins. Right there, at Agios Georgios, stands Cap St Georges, the most remote five-star on the Paphos coast. It doesn’t appear on the register’s area lists but on the general one, and it has even hosted an international chess tournament. Here’s what the entry says and what it offers. To compare, see Coral Bay hotels.
Confirmed, and five-star
On the general accommodation list of August it appears with five stars, 199 rooms and 398 beds on Maniki Street, Agios Georgios. It carries the L, so the rating is confirmed, a status shared by just nine other five-stars, all marked in luxury hotels in Cyprus. Its website gives different figures, 202 rooms and number 3 on the same street, so I show both rather than pick one.
What it offers
Every room faces the sea, across twelve categories of 52 to 58 square metres, and some have a private pool. The Akamas Presidential Suite has seven bedrooms, 990 square metres and a 20 by 5-metre infinity pool. There are three outdoor pools and a heated indoor one, a 130-metre cove with olive trees, and ten restaurants and bars, from the Yeronisos buffet to Sky7 for fine dining. The spa, Cleopatra, covers 2,585 square metres. Any room includes breakfast, wifi, the thermal area, the health club, the pools, the beach and the kids’ club.

Families and the waterpark
The Happy Seal Kidz Club is for ages 3 to 12, and there’s an outdoor children’s cinema and a playground. Families get suites sleeping up to six, such as the 114-square-metre Cap Family Suite, and interconnecting rooms, with accessible rooms available in every category. Separately, in its own grounds near the hotel, is the waterpark, with a wave pool, lazy river, seven slides and an area for the youngest. Among the experiences the hotel sells are trips on its yacht towards Fontana Amorosa and visits to a local farm where guests can pick fresh produce.
Neighbours
Heading south, in Coral Bay, is the Coral Beach hotel, bigger and with a sandy beach. Chloraka has Azia Resort, which keeps some rooms for adults, and the King Evelthon hotel, with a free waterpark.
If you would rather have a local show you round, book a guided tour in Coral Bay and choose by the reviews.
My take
I see it for travellers after quiet, modern luxury with the Akamas wilderness close at hand, and for families who like having a waterpark nearby without the bustle of Kato Paphos. For dinner at the harbour or a night out, though, you’ll need a car, because it’s a long way from everything. Work out how in where to stay in Cyprus. Agios Georgios belongs to the municipality of Peyia, as Coral Bay does.
A car frees you from timetables: search car hire in Paphos on DiscoverCars and compare companies.
