The luxury coast
Hotels in Limassol, from the city to Pissouri
Limassol has fewer places to stay than Paphos or Ayia Napa, but more luxury. The official list of August 2026 records 59 establishments with about 11,700 beds, and eight are five-star hotels, nearly all on the city's eastern coast towards Amathus. It's the most central base on the south coast.

- Limassol has 59 registered places to stay and about 11,700 beds.
- Eight are five-star hotels.
- The big hotels line the Amathus coast to the east.
- It's a good base for the Troodos, about 30 km away.
For beach and pool, I'd head for the Amathus coast. To stroll the old town and the Molos without a car, I'd look for something in the city itself, even though there's less choice.

04 My tip
A base for the mountains
From Limassol, Troodos Square is about 30 km in a straight line, so it's a good base for the villages and painted churches.

What I would book
Limassol is the big city of the south coast, and its hotel scene has a character of its own, few places to stay and plenty of luxury. I checked by adding up the Limassol section of the government’s 2026 register. Here’s how it breaks down and which part I’d pick. To weigh it against the rest of the coast, see where to stay in Cyprus.
Few, but upmarket
The Limassol list records 59 establishments with roughly 5,800 rooms and 11,700 beds, less than half of Paphos. But eight of its 33 hotels are five-star and ten four-star, the highest share on the island. The largest is City of Dreams Mediterranean, with 966 beds. As elsewhere in Cyprus, several carry a P and their rating is indicative, though Parklane and St. Raphael hold a firm licence.
The Amathus coast
The register’s addresses show where the luxury is. The Four Seasons in Limassol, Amathus Beach, Atlantica Bay, Mediterranean Beach and Poseidonia Beach are on Amathus Avenue in Agios Tychonas, with Grandresort and Elias Beach in Parekklisia. Further east, in Pyrgos, you’ll find St. Raphael and Parklane. It’s a strip of seaside resorts, ideal for beach and pool if you don’t mind a drive or bus ride into town. The ruins the avenue is named after, Amathus, are on the same stretch of coast.
Once your dates are set, check which hotels are still free in Limassol before prices climb.
The city and Germasogeia
Closer to the centre, the Germasogeia tourist area has hotels such as Royal Apollonia Beach and Atlantica Miramare Beach. In the city proper there’s less choice, with Alasia, Kapetanios Odyssia and Crowne Plaza among the four-stars. In return you can walk to the old town, the castle and the Molos, which I cover in Cyprus cruises. The free Limassol old town walk starts at the old port, and everything there is to see in town is on the Limassol page.
Pissouri, the quiet alternative
The Limassol list also takes in Pissouri Bay, halfway to Paphos, with five-star Columbia and four-star Columbia Beach. It suits anyone after a small place with no city around it, and I cover the village in Pissouri.
Four of them have their own guide. St Raphael Resort is the five-star with a final licence at Pyrgos; the Atlantica Miramare hotel is a four-star, also with a final licence; the Alasia hotel is the city one; and Columbia Beach Resort is really two hotels on Pissouri bay, between Limassol and Paphos.
If you would rather have a local show you round, book a guided tour in Limassol and choose by the reviews.
Why I’d choose it as a base
Limassol sits in the middle of the south coast. Troodos Square lies roughly 30 km off as the crow flies, so you can head up to the mountain villages, introduced in the prettiest villages in Cyprus, and be back by the sea for the night.
A car frees you from timetables: search car hire in Limassol on DiscoverCars and compare companies.
Once your dates are set, check which hotels are still free in Limassol before prices climb.
