When to visit Cyprus
Cyprus in March, when spring arrives
In March the Cyprus coast reaches a 20 °C high and rain falls to a quarter of January's, 26.8 mm in Larnaca. It's the last month of the ski season, the 25th is a holiday and in 2027 so is the 15th, Green Monday. UK arrivals nearly doubled from February, to 61,545 in March 2025.

- Coast at 20 °C and much less rain.
- Last month of skiing on Olympus.
- Holiday on the 25th; in 2027, also on the 15th.
March is my idea of the perfect in-between month. You can already eat on a sunny terrace in Paphos and, after a generous winter, there may still be snow on Olympus for one last ski day.

The Cyprus Ski Club places the end of the season in late March. If you want snow, don't leave it until April.

March holidays
25 March, Greek Independence Day, is a holiday, and in 2027 so is the 15th, Green Monday.
public holidays in Cyprus
What I would book
March is when Cyprus changes season. The rain retreats, the coast passes 20 °C for the first time and there may still be snow up in the mountains. I go through it with WMO, CYSTAT and Central Bank of Cyprus data. The bigger picture is in Cyprus in spring.
March weather
In Larnaca the average high is 20.2 °C and the low 9.1 °C, and in Paphos 19.5 and 10.3 °C. Nicosia climbs to 20.1 °C. Rain drops to around 27 mm on the coast, over 7 days on average, a quarter of January’s. Prodromos, in the Troodos, already reaches an 11.8 °C high, though 80.7 mm still falls.
The end of the ski season
The Cyprus Ski Club explains that the Olympus season usually lasts until the end of March. If you want to ski, the first half of the month is the safer bet, and it’s worth checking piste conditions before driving up. I go into more detail in Cyprus in winter.
To sleep close to everything, search places to stay in Paphos on Expedia and filter by area before price.
March holidays
The Central Bank of Cyprus lists Greek Independence Day, 25 March, as a holiday; in 2026 it fell on a Wednesday and in 2027 it’s a Thursday. In 2027 Monday 15 March, Green Monday, is added, after falling in February in 2026. Each one appears in public holidays in Cyprus. The same month, from 4 to 14 March 2027, brings Limassol Carnival.
Crowds
CYSTAT recorded 200,736 visitors in March 2025, double January’s figure, and 139,198 in March 2026. From the UK, March 2025 brought 61,545 and March 2026 brought 45,763. It’s still low season, but the island is waking up.
If you are short on time, see the best tours in Paphos and pick one that fits your day.
Flights
Hermes’s summer 2026 schedule, which shows the UK routes to Larnaca and Paphos, starts in April, so for March check the winter timetable for your airport. I cover the options in flights to Cyprus.
Fewer people than last year
March was the only month of 2025 with fewer visitors than the year before, down 0.8 %, according to CYSTAT, and in 2026 it fell further, to 139,198. So it’s a spring month with relatively few people around. UK arrivals were 61,545 in March 2025 and 45,763 in March 2026.
Where the bus does not go, a car does: compare car hire in Paphos before you arrive rather than at the desk.
What to pack
Short sleeves for sunny middays, a jacket for the evenings and something waterproof, as it still rains on about seven days on the coast. For the mountains, a coat and winter shoes if you want to try the snow.
My March plan
Paphos or Limassol as a base, with ancient sites and coastal walks in pleasant spring temperatures and, early in the month, a trip up to the Troodos in case there’s still some snow on the slopes. And something warm for the evenings, when the coast cools to 9 or 10 °C.
If your trip slips to the end of the month, also see Cyprus in April, and if it’s earlier, Cyprus in February.
