  • A five-star above Konnos Bay, next to Cape Greco.
  • 245 rooms, a spa and an indoor pool.
  • A Japanese restaurant and a free shuttle to the other Grecian hotels.

It's the hotel I'd choose around Protaras for nature, clear water and calm, with Cape Greco a walk away. For nights out or shops on foot, I'd stay nearer the centre.

Before you go

What I would keep in mind

  1. 01 Most beautiful

    Konnos Bay at its feet

The cove below the hotel is Konnos, where the hotel runs a kiosk open all year, weather permitting, alongside a water sports company.

  2. 02 To save money

    A shuttle between the Grecians

The group runs a free bus between its three hotels, Grecian Bay, Grecian Park and Grecian Sands, so you can use their restaurants and facilities.

  3. 03 Worth the splurge

    Sushi in-house

Inside Grecian Park are UMI, a Japanese restaurant with a sushi bar, and the Italian Ravioli's, both booked separately.

What I would book

Between Protaras and Ayia Napa the coast turns rocky and the coves of Cape Greco appear. High above one of them, Konnos, stands Grecian Park, a five-star on the edge of the nature park. I look at its official entry, what its group publishes and why I see it as a hotel for nature rather than a town beach. For the area’s other options, see Protaras hotels.

Five stars on the Paralimni list

The August Paralimni register gives it five stars, 245 rooms and 490 beds at 81 Konnos Street. It’s one of three five-stars on that list, alongside Constantinos the Great and Sunrise Beach, and it carries the P, leaving its rating provisional. I compare the island’s other five-stars, area by area, in luxury hotels in Cyprus.

Rooms, food and wellbeing

The hotel’s website pulls its content from a Grecian group database, which is where these details come from. Sea-view superior rooms measure 35 square metres, superior suites 50, with a sitting area, and there are 45-square-metre inland studios with a separate bedroom. In the hotel you’ll find UMI, Japanese with a sushi bar, the Italian Ravioli’s and a poolside grill open from April to October. Down on the beach, a hotel kiosk serves drinks and snacks all year when the weather allows, next to Mike’s Watersports, an independent company that has worked with the hotel’s guests for years. If you’d rather spend the day walking the cape, the hotel prepares a picnic box booked in advance. To unwind there’s a spa, hair salon, indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and a gym open from eight in the morning to eight at night.

Children and services

From July to October a kids’ club looks after children aged 4 to 11, and outside those months there’s the garden playground and the games room. Babysitting is booked separately, which helps if you want a quiet dinner at UMI with the children already in bed. The group also offers car hire, airport transfers, fishing trips and diving, plus a free shuttle between its three hotels, Grecian Park, the Grecian Bay hotel in Ayia Napa and Grecian Sands.

Neighbours

Towards Protaras along the coast road are Cavo Maris, more family-oriented, and the Narcissos apartments. Towards Ayia Napa, beyond the cape, is the Asterias Beach hotel, on Makronissos.

So you do not lose the morning at the ticket office, browse tickets and tours in Protaras on GetYourGuide.

My take

I think it’s the best starting point for anyone wanting to explore Cape Greco on foot or by car, swim in clear water and sleep in a quiet five-star. The trade-off is that dinner in central Protaras or Ayia Napa means a car, a taxi or the group’s shuttle. Heading down towards Protaras, the most famous beach is Fig Tree Bay.

If you would rather go at your own pace, see the car hire deals in Protaras: the earlier you book, the more cars are left to choose from.
