- A five-star on the Amathus coast, open since 1973.
- Seawater pools and an adults-only area.
- A big kids' club and a pool with slides.
- Two ancient tombs open to visitors beside the hotel.
It's the Limassol five-star I'd recommend to a family wanting a hotel with history, a good children's pool and a big kids' club. For a couple, its adults-only area with seawater pools works too.

What I would book
Before Limassol’s east coast filled up with five-stars, Amathus Beach was already there. It opened in 1973, marked half a century in 2023 and is still one of the city’s benchmark hotels. I explain its entry, its facilities and why I think it’s so good for families. For context, see Limassol hotels.
The official entry
The ministry’s August register for Limassol shows five stars, 244 rooms and 488 beds in Agios Tychonas, on Amathus Avenue. Like so many others it carries the P, with its rating awaiting confirmation. Its website adds that it has been a member of The Leading Hotels of the World since 1986, the first on the island, and that since 2014 it has been run by Muskita Hotels, the group that owns the Four Seasons in Limassol.
Water for everyone
The pools are the headline. There’s an Olympic-size outdoor pool, a heated indoor seawater pool that the hotel bills as the largest of its kind on the island, an adults-only area with two seawater pools and underwater music, and a family pool with two slides plus one for toddlers, heated to 26 °C and closed from mid-November to mid-April. In front there’s a dedicated beach and a floating water park on the sea. If you’re planning a winter break with children, bear in mind the family pool’s mid-November closure.

Children, food and history
The kids’ club, with twelve assistants, is among the biggest on the island according to the hotel itself, and there’s an outdoor playground too. For dinner, the standouts are Limanaki, a seafront fish restaurant renovated in 2024, the Grill Room for steaks, and Kalypso. There’s a floodlit tennis court, a spa and 4,000 square metres of gardens. And there’s something unusual for a hotel, because together with the Department of Antiquities it has opened two tombs of the west necropolis of ancient Amathus to the public.
Neighbours
Heading east along the same avenue you’ll find the Elias Beach hotel and St Raphael Resort, with its marina, and a little beyond them the Parklane resort. For something small and urban, there’s the Alasia hotel in the centre.
If you would rather have a local show you round, book a guided tour in Limassol and choose by the reviews.
My take
I’d recommend it to families, for the pool with slides, the kids’ club and the 2026 offer of free half board for under-13s from May to October. For couples, the adults-only area and the fish restaurant by the sea make it just as appealing. It also highlights its geothermal and desalination plants, which save water and energy, and a small gallery devoted to John Corbidge, the British painter who depicted ancient Amathus. It makes a good base for the eastern side of the Limassol district, coastal ruins and inland villages included. The remains of ancient Amathus give the avenue its name.
