The town's coast and nearby
Paphos beaches, stretch by stretch
Paphos beaches run along the town's coast from south to north. Geroskipou has its municipal beach, the CTO beach and Pachyammos; Kato Paphos has Pachyammos, Vrysoudia and Alykes along Poseidonos Avenue; and north of the harbour are the lighthouse beaches. For a long stretch of sand, Coral Bay is about 11 km away.

- Paphos beaches run from Geroskipou in the south to the lighthouse north of the harbour.
- Pachyammos, Vrysoudia and Alykes line Poseidonos Avenue.
- Routes 606, 611 and 615 reach the beaches for €2 a journey.
- For a long beach, Coral Bay is about 11 km away.
Stay in Kato Paphos and you've a beach on foot along Poseidonos Avenue. For a proper beach day, I'd hop on the 615 to Coral Bay, which runs every 10 to 15 minutes.

What I would keep in mind
-
01 Getting there
A bus to the sand
The 611 runs from the Tombs of the Kings to the harbour and Geroskipou beach, and the 606 stops at Geroskipou municipal beach. A single is €2.
Geroskipou -
02 Most beautiful
A swim by the lighthouse
North of the harbour, near the archaeological park and the Tombs of the Kings, OpenStreetMap marks Lighthouse beach and Faros beach.

The coastal path is free
The council's path links Kato Paphos harbour with the Chlorakas boundary, past the northern beaches, over 6.85 km of main route and side paths.

04 My tip
For a long beach, Coral Bay
Route 615 leaves the Tombs of the Kings station for Coral Bay very frequently, and in summer until after midnight.
Coral Bay hotels
What I would book
Paphos beaches are strung along the whole town coast, from Geroskipou to the lighthouse, nearly always with the hotel strip right behind them, which is handy if you’re staying on the front. Here they are from south to north, with how to reach each one, plus where I’d go for a full day on the sand. The rest of the town is covered in Paphos.
Geroskipou, to the south
Coming in from the airport, the first stretch is the Geroskipou coast. Ierokipia council describes a strip of almost 4 km with hotels, restaurants and entertainment, and its directory lists three beaches, the municipal beach, the CTO beach, named after the former Cyprus Tourism Organisation, and Pachyammos. Offshore are the Moulia rocky islets, which the council counts among its natural sights.
Without a car, take the 606, which stops at Geroskipou municipal beach, or the 611, which ends at Geroskipou beach by the water park. At Pachyammos, the council asked in 2019 for the excavation of a large Hellenistic sanctuary found by the sea to continue.
Poseidonos Avenue
Into Kato Paphos, Poseidonos Avenue runs along the sea past the town’s big hotels. OpenStreetMap marks Pachyammos, Vrysoudia and Alykes beaches here, from south to north, the last of them just by the harbour. They’re the easiest choice if you’re staying on this avenue, and the council also uses the Poseidonos beach as an events space. I go through the hotels on this stretch in Paphos hotels.
To sleep close to everything, search places to stay in Pafos on Expedia and filter by area before price.
The lighthouse and north of the harbour
Past the harbour, the coast changes. By the archaeological park and the lighthouse, OpenStreetMap places Lighthouse beach, and a little further north, about 750 m from the Tombs of the Kings, Faros beach. The council’s coastal path runs this way to Chlorakas, through a Natura 2000 protected landscape. For me it’s the best combination in town, a swim and a walk in the same morning.
Where’s the best beach near Paphos?
If you’re after a full beach day, I’d leave town. Coral Bay, in Pegeia, is about 11 km north, and route 615 runs there from the Tombs of the Kings station roughly every quarter of an hour, and at night in summer too. Further out, the Akamas peninsula has coves without hotels, though you’ll need a car for most of them. And to the east, the Pafos tourism board invites you to swim at Aphrodite’s Rock, where myth has the goddess born, with route 631 from the harbour.
If you are short on time, see the best tours in Pafos and pick one that fits your day.
What I can’t confirm
I won’t tell you which beaches hold a Blue Flag in 2026, because the official list can’t be consulted from a permitted source, nor lifeguard hours. Nor will I say whether a beach is sand or shingle without having read it somewhere reliable, so check photos of each before you pick a hotel. For everything that’s free on the island, beaches first, see free things to do in Cyprus. The comparison with the other coasts is in Cyprus beaches.
Where the bus does not go, a car does: compare car hire in Paphos before you arrive rather than at the desk.
To sleep close to everything, search places to stay in Pafos on Booking.com and filter by area before price.

Frequently asked questions
What are the best beaches in Paphos?
In town, the ones along Poseidonos Avenue, such as Vrysoudia or Alykes, for convenience, and the lighthouse beaches if you want a swim and a walk together. For a full beach day I'd go to Coral Bay, about 11 km north.
Are there beaches in central Paphos?
Yes, in Kato Paphos, along Poseidonos Avenue and by the harbour, with Pachyammos, Vrysoudia and Alykes. Ktima, the upper town, has no beach.
Can you get to the beach by bus in Paphos?
Route 611 runs from the Tombs of the Kings to the harbour and Geroskipou beach, the 606 stops at Geroskipou municipal beach and the 615 goes to Coral Bay. Each journey costs €2.
Do Paphos beaches have Blue Flags?
I can't give you the 2026 list, as the programme's websites can't be consulted from here. If it matters to you, ask at the beach or at your hotel.
Which beach is near the Tombs of the Kings?
According to OpenStreetMap, Faros beach is about 750 m from the necropolis as the crow flies, with Lighthouse beach a little further south by the archaeological park.
