One of the capital's two five-stars
Hilton Nicosia, five stars in Egkomi
Hilton Nicosia is one of the capital's two five-star hotels, with 194 rooms and 388 beds at 1 Achaion Street, Egkomi, according to the official 2026 list. It holds a firm rating and sits about 3 km in a straight line from Eleftheria Square, by the city walls.

- One of Nicosia's two five-stars, with a firm rating.
- 194 rooms on Achaion Street, Egkomi.
- About 3 km as the crow flies from Eleftheria Square.
- Better by car than on foot for the old town.
I'd choose it for a work trip, or travelling by car and wanting a firmly rated five-star. If the plan is the old town and walking across to the north, I'd rather stay closer to the walls.

What I would keep in mind
-
01 Worth the splurge
A firm rating
It's one of the ten five-star hotels in Cyprus with a firm licence and classification on the official list, marked L.

02 My tip
Outside the old town
It's in Egkomi, about 3 km in a straight line from Eleftheria Square. A bit far to walk to the historic centre every day.

For crossing north
From central Nicosia you walk across at Ledra Street with your passport, then come back south to sleep.

A two-star neighbour
The official list gives the same street and number to Altius Boutique, a two-star, a simpler option at the same spot.

What I would book
In a capital with little hotel choice, the Hilton Nicosia is one of the two big names. I cover its register entry, exactly where it stands and the kind of trip I’d pick it for. The capital’s other options are in Nicosia hotels.
Its entry on the list
The 2026 Nicosia list gives it five stars, 194 rooms and 388 beds at 1 Achaion Street, Egkomi, on the edge of central Nicosia. It carries an L, a firm licence and classification, which only ten of the island’s forty five-stars hold, as explained in luxury hotels in Cyprus. Oddly, the list gives the same street and number to Altius Boutique, a two-star. As operator, the list names not the chain but Louis Hotels Public Co Ltd, the same group behind the Polis 1907 house in Polis Chrysochous. Next to the capital’s other five-star, The Landmark, with 283 rooms, the Hilton is the smaller of the two.
Where it is
According to OpenStreetMap, the hotel stands a little over 3 km, as the crow flies, from Eleftheria Square, by the Venetian walls. That’s not a walk you’ll fancy every day in summer, so for the old town, Ledra Street and the museums I’d plan on a car, taxi or bus. The capital is about 40 km as the crow flies from Larnaca Airport.
To sleep close to everything, search places to stay in Hilton Nicosia on Expedia and filter by area before price.
The distances, one by one
To get a feel for it, I measured in OpenStreetMap, as the crow flies, from the hotel to what nearly everyone wants to see in the capital. The Cyprus Museum in Nicosia is about 2.8 km away; the Leventis Museum in Nicosia, 3.2; Ledra Street, the Laiki Geitonia quarter and the Shacolas Tower observatory, around 3.3; and the Archbishop’s Palace, 3.8. On foot along the streets, every one of those walks is over three kilometres. Larnaca Airport is about 41 km away.
Two more official lists
Alongside the general register, the Deputy Ministry puts out themed lists. The Hilton Nicosia appears on the list of vegan-friendly accommodation, dated August 2024, which helps if you follow that diet. It doesn’t appear, however, on the 2026 list of pet-friendly hotels, so if you’re travelling with a dog you’ll need to look elsewhere, as I explain in travelling to Cyprus with a dog.
If you are short on time, see the best tours in Nicosia and pick one that fits your day.
What I can’t tell you
The chain’s website can’t be read automatically, so I’m not listing services, pools or restaurants I haven’t been able to check. What’s here comes from the official list and the map. Before booking, check its website for anything that matters to you, such as parking or the gym.
The trip I’d choose it for
For a business trip, or if you’re driving and want a firmly rated five-star, it fits well. If your plan is to explore the old town and walk across to north Nicosia, I’d stay closer to the walls, in one of the small central hotels. And compared with the capital’s other five-star, The Landmark Nicosia is bigger, with 568 beds, and sits on Makarios III Avenue. A short way from the centre is the Cyprus Museum in Nicosia, the island’s great archaeological museum.
Where the bus does not go, a car does: compare car hire in Nicosia before you arrive rather than at the desk.
