The coast at Protaras by Fig Tree Bay, with turquoise water and a rocky islet offshore, in Cyprus

Hotel apartments are the second big way to stay in Cyprus. The official list of August 2026 records 194 complexes with about 18,400 beds, and almost three in four are in Ayia Napa, Paralimni and Protaras or Paphos. They're rated with letters, A, B and C, rather than stars.

  • The official list records 194 hotel apartment complexes.
  • Almost three in four are in Ayia Napa, Protaras or Paphos.
  • They're rated with letters, A, B and C.
  • They give you a kitchen and space, ideal for families.

For a family or a long week, I'd look at a class A apartment in Protaras or Paphos before a hotel. You get a kitchen and more space, though you lose a hotel's services.

What I would keep in mind

  1. 01 To save money

    Kitchen and space

A hotel apartment gives you a kitchen and more room, which makes a difference on longer stays or with children.

    The east coast has most

Ayia Napa has 64 complexes and Paralimni and Protaras another 52, more than half the island's total.

    Letters, not stars

Apartments are rated A, B or C. The list has 48 class A, 81 class B, 15 class C and the rest unclassified.

What I would book

If you’re travelling as a family or staying more than a week, a hotel apartment may suit you better than a hotel. To see how many there are and where, I counted the complexes on the Deputy Ministry of Tourism’s official list of August 2026. Every other option is in where to stay in Cyprus.

The official numbers

The area lists record 194 hotel apartment complexes with about 18,400 beds. They don’t carry stars but letters. There are 48 class A, the top grade, 81 class B, 15 class C and about 50 unclassified or without data on the list. As with hotels, many carry a P, meaning their classification is still being processed and is indicative.

Where they are

The east coast dominates. Ayia Napa has 64 complexes and Paralimni and Protaras another 52, more than half the island’s total. In Protaras there are even more apartments than hotels, as I explain in Protaras hotels. Paphos adds 33, thirteen of them class A, such as the King Jason apartments and Capital Coast Resort, while class C includes, for instance, Pagona Hotel Apartments. Larnaca and Limassol have 16 each, Polis nine, and Nicosia and the mountains just two apiece.

The Paralimni list, which covers Protaras, records 21 class A complexes, among them the Narcissos apartments, which the register spells Narkissos.

Class A, area by area

In Ayia Napa, most class A complexes line Nissi Avenue and J. Kennedy Street. Melpo-Antia, with 130 apartments, and Evabelle Napa, with 122 and a final licence, are the largest, followed by Euronapa (83) and Sunprime (70); Nissi Avenue also has smaller ones such as Loutsiana, Mon Repos and Nissiana. In Paralimni and Protaras the list is longer and the complexes bigger, with Louis Nausicaa Beach at 185 apartments, Elamaris at 160 and Louis Althea Beach at 150, while Rising Star Beach and The Golden Star Beach, with 131 each, hold final licences. The Sunrise group has Sunrise Jade and Sunrise Oasis, and the Tsokkos group Tsokkos Gardens 2.

In Paphos, Kefalos Damon is the largest class A complex, with 139 apartments and a final licence on Adamantios Korais Street, and on the Tombs of the Kings road there are Princessa Vera (59) and Capital Coast (113). Coral Bay has Corallia Beach (85) and Panareti’s Coral Bay (68); Chloraka has St. George Gardens (83) and Helios Bay (50); and Konia, a little inland, has Paphos Hills (46). The two biggest complexes on the Paphos list, Basilica Complex (153) and Paphos Gardens (132), have no class assigned.

In Limassol, class A complexes are few and mid-sized, Blue Crane (49) at Agios Tychonas, Tasiana Star (32) at Potamos Germasogeias and Chrielka (29) on Olympion Street. Among class B, Pier Beach, with 35 apartments on 28th October Street, has a final licence, and so does Kotzias at Pissouri, with ten. Outside those three areas, class A choice is almost token, with Atrium Zenon in central Larnaca, Mercure Larnaca Beach at Oroklini and Tavros at Neo Chorio, near Polis. Nicosia has just two complexes, Almond and Lordos, both class B.

Apartment or hotel

An apartment gives you a kitchen and more space, which counts on a week with children. In return, you usually won’t have a kids’ club or on-site restaurants. For a family I’d look first at a class A apartment on the east coast or in Paphos, and for a few restful days as a couple, a hotel. Halfway between sit the tourist villages, apartments with hotel services, such as Kefalos Beach in Paphos. If luxury tempts you, all forty five-stars are in luxury hotels in Cyprus.

So you do not lose the morning at the ticket office, browse tickets and tours in Protaras on GetYourGuide.

What you’ll need to check yourself

The register doesn’t record prices, sizes or pools. For that, check each one’s website. What you can check on the list is its class and whether its licence is firm. And if you choose a flat to cook in, cheap eats in Cyprus covers where to shop and how eating out compares with the EU average. For other budget options, see cheap hotels in Cyprus, and for a whole house with a pool, villas in Cyprus.

If you would rather go at your own pace, see the car hire deals in Protaras: the earlier you book, the more cars are left to choose from.
