The white, low-rise building of the Almyra hotel in Paphos, with its garden and palm trees in front

Paphos has more beds than anywhere else in Cyprus. The official list of August 2026 records 129 places to stay with about 26,000 beds, including 51 hotels, 12 five-star and 24 four-star. Most line the coast from Geroskipou to Kato Paphos and Chloraka, and the airport is about 9 km away.

  • Paphos has 129 places to stay and about 26,000 beds, the island's highest.
  • Twelve are five-star hotels.
  • Poseidonos Avenue in Kato Paphos has many of the big names.
  • The airport is about 9 km away.

On a first visit I'd stay in Kato Paphos, on Poseidonos Avenue, to walk to the harbour and the mosaics. For beach and peace, Chloraka or Geroskipou.

What I would book

Paphos has more hotel beds than anywhere else in Cyprus, which means plenty of choice. To get my bearings I worked through the official Paphos PDF and grouped its hotels by the address it gives. Here’s what each area offers. The island’s other bases are in where to stay in Cyprus.

The register at a glance

The Paphos list records 129 establishments with around 12,800 rooms and 26,000 beds, more than any other. There are 51 hotels, 12 five-star and 24 four-star, 33 hotel apartment complexes, eight tourist villages and 33 traditional houses in district villages. Most hotels carry a P, so their rating is indicative while the new law’s classification goes through.

Kato Paphos, Poseidonos Avenue

This is where I’d stay first time round. Poseidonos Avenue is home to the Almyra hotel, Amavi, Annabelle, Olympic Lagoon Paphos and Alexander the Great, among others, a short walk from the harbour, the fort and the archaeological park with its World Heritage mosaics. More in UNESCO World Heritage in Cyprus. Heading north, Tombs of the Kings Road has Venus Beach and Avlida.

To sleep close to everything, search places to stay in Paphos on Expedia and filter by area before price.

Chloraka and Kissonerga

North of town, Chloraka has five-star King Evelthon and Azia Beach, plus Leonardo Laura Beach, St. George and Akti Beach. A little further, Kissonerga offers Atlantica Golden Beach, Queen’s Bay and Cynthiana Beach. It’s a quieter stretch on the way to Coral Bay, which has its own guide in Coral Bay hotels.

Geroskipou and Kouklia

To the east, towards the airport, Geroskipou has large beach hotels such as Athena Beach, Aliathon and Louis Phaethon Beach, the last with some 840 beds. Further on, in Kouklia, by the sanctuary of Aphrodite at Palaepaphos, lies the Aphrodite Hills complex.

Several of them have their own guide here, with the register entry and what each one offers. Among the five-stars are the Annabelle hotel on Poseidonos Avenue, Olympic Lagoon Resort Paphos in Kato Paphos, the Venus Beach hotel on the Tombs of the Kings road, Azia Resort in Chloraka and the Elysium hotel, one of the few whose rating is already final. Aliathon Resort pairs a four-star hotel with a tourist village. If you’d rather self-cater, Capital Coast Resort is class A hotel apartments, Kefalos Beach a tourist village of the same class and Pagona Hotel Apartments, class C, the simplest of the lot.

If you are short on time, see the best tours in Paphos and pick one that fits your day.

Getting there and around

From the airport to town is roughly 9 km as the crow flies, and Pafos Buses links them on routes 612 and 613 for 2 euros. Everything about the terminal is in Paphos Airport. If you’d rather stay in a village, the list’s 33 traditional houses are in places like Pano Panagia, Goudi, Kathikas and Kritou Terra, all covered in agrotourism in Cyprus. What to see in the rest of the west is in Paphos district. And if you play, the courses for golf in Cyprus are near Kouklia and Geroskipou. By board, Olympic Lagoon and Leonardo Laura Beach run on all-inclusive, compared with others in all-inclusive hotels in Cyprus. And two of the three hotels sold entirely without children, Amavi and Asimina Suites, are in this town, as covered in adults-only hotels in Cyprus.

Where the bus does not go, a car does: compare car hire in Paphos before you arrive rather than at the desk.

To sleep close to everything, search places to stay in Paphos on Booking.com and filter by area before price.
