- 31 °C on the coast and almost no rain.
- Fewer people than in July and August.
- Pentecost holiday: 1 June 2026 and 21 June 2027.
If someone asks me for a beach month in Cyprus, I say June. It's as hot as you need, the days are the longest of the year and there are slightly fewer people than in July and August.

What I would keep in mind

01 Most beautiful
Summer without rain
In Paphos the WMO gives 1.6 mm and half a rainy day on average in June. Almost every day is a beach day.

What I would book
June is my favourite beach month in Cyprus. It’s proper summer, the days are the longest of the year and the island hasn’t yet reached August’s crush. Below you’ll find the weather, the dates and what’s worth knowing, from WMO, CYSTAT and Central Bank data. For the whole season, see Cyprus in summer.
June weather
Larnaca has an average high of 30.8 °C and a low of 20.1 °C, and Paphos 28.2 and 19.2 °C. Nicosia climbs to 34.3 °C. On the coast there’s almost no rain, 1.6 mm on average, and in Paphos rainy days come to half a day a month. Up in the Troodos, Prodromos stays around 25 °C, a good escape from the heat.
Pentecost and Kataklysmos
Pentecost Monday is a day off for everyone, on 1 June in 2026 and the 21st in 2027, says the Central Bank of Cyprus. With it comes the Festival of the Flood, or Kataklysmos, which Larnaca Municipality staged between 29 May and 3 June 2026, with stages on Finikoudes beach and at the castle, poetry contests and boat races. I cover it in Kataklysmos.

Crowds in June
According to CYSTAT, June 2025 brought 498,527 visitors, 3.4 % more than a year earlier, and June 2026 brought 489,965. From the UK, 181,610 came in June 2025 and 161,913 in June 2026. Plenty of people, but noticeably fewer than in July or August.
By sea to Greece
The Cypriot shipping press reported that in 2026 the Limassol-Piraeus ferry ran from 29 May to 1 September, with pets allowed in cabins. If you fancy combining Cyprus and Greece, see ferry to Cyprus.
So you do not lose the morning at the ticket office, browse tickets and tours in Protaras on GetYourGuide.
Wildfires
June falls within the April-to-October period in which gov.uk considers the wildfire risk high. In the countryside, take great care with any kind of fire.
Compared with 2024
June is one of the slowest-growing months. According to CYSTAT, 2025 brought only 3.4 % more visitors than June 2024, against double-digit rises in spring and autumn. It suggests summer is already close to full, and that June remains its most bearable month.
If you would rather go at your own pace, see the car hire deals in Protaras: the earlier you book, the more cars are left to choose from.
Packing for June
Swimwear, light clothes, a hat and strong sun cream. A T-shirt is enough for coastal evenings, with lows around 20 °C, and you’ll only need long sleeves up in the Troodos, where nights drop to about 15 °C.
My June plan
Beach in the morning, a siesta at midday and a walk at sunset, based in Protaras, Ayia Napa or Paphos. And if the heat bites, a day in the Troodos. If it sounds too much, the month before, Cyprus in May, is a little milder, and the month after, Cyprus in July, a little hotter. For the first proper swims of summer, my picks in the east are Nissi Beach, Fig Tree Bay and the other Ayia Napa beaches.
