When to visit Cyprus
Cyprus in spring, the best season for touring
In spring, coastal highs in Cyprus climb from 20 °C in March to 27 °C in May and the rain almost disappears. It's Orthodox Easter season, which in 2027 falls at the end of April and start of May, and April kicks off the main season, with 151,883 arrivals from the UK in 2025.

- 20 to 27 °C on the coast, with rain on the way out.
- Orthodox Easter in April or May; in 2027, Easter Monday is 3 May.
- April opens the season and UK flights ramp up.
If anyone asks me for the best time to really see Cyprus, I say spring. April and May have comfortable walking temperatures and far fewer people than summer.

What I would book
Spring is, for me, the ideal season to get to know Cyprus properly. It’s warm enough to enjoy the coast but not so hot that you have to give up walking round ancient sites at midday, and the island isn’t full yet. Here are the weather, the festivals and what’s worth knowing, drawing on the WMO, CYSTAT and the Central Bank. For the whole year, see Cyprus weather.
The weather
In Larnaca the average high rises from 20.2 °C in March to 23 °C in April and 26.9 °C in May, with lows from 9 to 16 °C. Paphos runs a couple of degrees lower, while inland Nicosia shoots up to 29.6 °C in May. The rain fades, from 26.8 mm in March to 10.6 mm in May in Larnaca, although May still brings 38 mm to Nicosia. In the Troodos, Prodromos goes from an 11.8 °C to a 20.8 °C high.
Easter and holidays
Spring is Orthodox Easter season, and the date moves every year. The Central Bank of Cyprus listed 10 April as Good Friday in 2026, with the Monday and Tuesday on the 13th and 14th, and for 2027 it gives 30 April, with the Monday and Tuesday on 3 and 4 May. Other holidays include 25 March, Greek Independence Day, 1 April, Cyprus National Day, and Green Monday on 15 March 2027. I go through the whole calendar in public holidays in Cyprus.
If you are staying the night, see the best hotel deals in Paphos for your dates: the well-placed rooms go fast.
How busy it gets
The season starts in April. CYSTAT counted 200,736 arrivals in March 2025, 418,730 in April and 479,160 in May. Arrivals from the UK jump from 61,545 in March to 151,883 in April and 179,150 in May. In 2026 the totals were 139,198, 303,031 and 455,680, so May is already close to summer levels.
Flights and warnings
Hermes Airports’ 2026 summer programme starts in April with about 85 weekly UK arrivals at Larnaca, from Gatwick, Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham and regional airports, as I explain in flights to Cyprus. And a word of caution, gov.uk classes the wildfire danger as high between April and October.
So you do not lose the morning at the ticket office, browse tickets and tours in Paphos on GetYourGuide.
Compared with 2024
Spring is the fastest-growing season. CYSTAT shows April 2025 up 25.5 % on a year earlier and May up 13.7 %, while March stayed almost flat, down 0.8 %. If you’re after peace and quiet, March remains the safest bet of the season.
What to pack
Short sleeves by day and a light jacket for the evenings, as March lows on the coast are around 9 or 10 °C. For the Troodos, something warm until well into April.
If you would rather go at your own pace, see the car hire deals in Paphos: the earlier you book, the more cars are left to choose from.
Month by month
For each month in detail, see Cyprus in March, Cyprus in April and Cyprus in May.
And when the real heat arrives, carry on with Cyprus in summer.
