Bjelasica, Kolašin
Skiing in Kolašin, Montenegro's biggest ski area
Kolašin 1600 and Kolašin 1450 make up Montenegro's biggest ski area, about 45 km of pistes on Bjelasica linked since February 2022 by the K7 chairlift. The bases are 12 km from town, the six-seat chairlift tops out at 2,035 metres and in the 2025-26 season an adult day pass cost €25. Here's how the two resorts compare.

- Kolašin 1600 and Kolašin 1450 share about 45 km of pistes linked by the K7 chairlift.
- The bases are 12 km from town, with a daily bus from the centre.
- In 2025-26 a day pass cost €25 for adults and €16.50 for children.
- The pass has also been valid at Jahorina and Kopaonik since 2025-26.
I'd stay in town and ride the resort bus up from the centre. Kolašin 1600 is the modern resort and the one with the views from the top of Troglava. Before booking, I'd wait for the operator to publish dates and prices for 2026-27.

What I would keep in mind
-
01 Getting there
Two resorts linked by the K7
Since February 2022 the K7 chairlift, starting at 1,450 metres, has linked Kolašin 1600 with Kolašin 1450, 2.3 km apart, according to the operator, Skijališta Crne Gore.
-
02 Money
€25 a day in 2025-26
A SportsCover Direct study publicised by the operator put the adult day pass at €25 and the child's at €16.50 in Kolašin.
-
03 My tip
One pass for Jahorina and Kopaonik too
From the 2025-26 season, a pass bought in Kolašin is also valid at Jahorina in Bosnia and Herzegovina and at Kopaonik in Serbia, under an agreement the operator announced.
-
04 Worth the splurge
Troglava, with half the country in view
From the top of the chairlift at 2,035 metres, the operator lists the Komovi, Prokletije, Durmitor and Sinjajevina on the skyline.
What I would book
If you’re going skiing in Montenegro, chances are you’ll end up in Kolašin. Its two resorts, Kolašin 1600 and Kolašin 1450, share about 45 km of pistes on Bjelasica, the biggest ski area in Montenegro, and since 2022 the motorway has put them half an hour from Podgorica. They’re run by the state company Skijališta Crne Gore and sit 12 km from town. For a week’s skiing, I think it’s the most complete option in Montenegro, especially on price.
Kolašin 1600, the modern resort
Kolašin 1600 officially opened on 16 February 2019, cut open by Bojan Križaj, the Yugoslav slalom star of the 1980s, according to the operator. It’s named after the altitude of its base station, where you’ll find the six-seat K8 chairlift, built by Doppelmayr with heated seats, and the 400-seat Troglava restaurant serving Bjelasica cooking. The chairlift climbs to 2,035 metres.
The national tourist board says the K8 serves 8 runs totalling 10.5 km (two blue, four red and two black), plus a beginners’ slope, a children’s drag lift, a ski school and 200 parking spaces. With the K7, the operator counts about 21 km of its own pistes and points out the snow between runs for safe off-piste skiing. You can hire kit at the base station or in town.
Kolašin 1450 and the K7 chairlift
Kolašin 1450 lies 2.3 km from its neighbour. In February 2022 the K7 chairlift opened, starting at 1,450 metres and joining the two piste networks. Here the sources part company. The national tourist board says about 17 km and 9 km from town, while the Kolašin tourist board says 26 km and four lifts. I’d go by the combined total of about 45 km, which the operator and the national board both give.

Prices, the season and a regional pass
In the 2025-26 season an adult day pass cost €25 and a child’s €16.50, according to a SportsCover Direct study that the operator used to bill Kolašin as the cheapest one-day skiing in the world. From that season, a pass bought in Kolašin also works at Jahorina (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Kopaonik (Serbia), under the agreement announced with the Jahorina Olympic Centre.
The national tourist board says the season starts in December. The 2025-26 season was officially opened on 12 to 14 December, but the company’s director admitted that enough snow didn’t fall until mid-January. So I wouldn’t book the opening weeks without free cancellation. As of 11 October 2026, the operator had yet to announce 2026-27 dates or prices.
Getting there and where to stay
The resorts run a daily bus from central Kolašin, where most of the beds are, listed under hotels in Kolašin. By car, the Podgorica to Mateševo motorway section, open since 13 July 2022, puts the slopes half an hour from the capital and 45 minutes from the airport, the operator says. Traffic drives on the right. By rail, Kolašin station is on the Bar to Belgrade line.
The operator has more projects in the pipeline, such as Cmiljača, Žarski, Torine and Jelovica, plus a mountain centre on the Komovi, and cites a Bjelasica plan with 224 km of pistes. For now, that’s on paper. To compare with Durmitor and the smaller resorts, see the general guide to skiing in Montenegro and the one on skiing in Žabljak.
