- Four-star at Njivice, formerly called the Iberostar Herceg Novi.
- Private beach, pool and kids' clubs for ages 4 to 17.
- Daily water taxi into central Herceg Novi.
- 26 km from Dubrovnik airport and 30 km from Tivat.
This is a family beach hotel more than a base for exploring Herceg Novi. I'd book it with children for the Star Camp and the beach at the end of the garden, and use the water taxi to get into the old town in the evening.

What I would keep in mind
-
01 To save money
Kids' clubs by age
Star Camp splits children into three groups, Monkey for ages 4 to 7, Dolphin for 8 to 12 and Eagle for 13 to 17, all run by the hotel's own staff.

02 Getting there
Water taxi into town
The hotel's website lists a daily water-taxi service to central Herceg Novi, the nicest way to reach the old town without a car.

03 Worth the splurge
Cocktails on the roof
The Rooftop, a bar on the top terrace, is the place for a sundowner. Opening times vary with the weather and the season.

04 My tip
Free Fit & Fun classes
There's a gym plus free body balance, Pilates, aerobics and aqua gym classes, and a wellness area with a sauna and massage rooms.

What I would book
If you’re searching for the «Iberostar Herceg Novi», this is it, even if the name has changed. The chain’s own website presents it as the Iberostar Waves Herceg Novi, formerly the Iberostar Herceg Novi, part of its Waves line of beach hotels for families and couples. It’s at Njivice, in Herceg Novi municipality, 8 km from the centre according to the tourist board, and its trump card is having the beach a few steps away.
The beach and the location
The hotel has direct access to a private beach. The Herceg Novi tourist board describes it as pebble, with a paved area of sunbeds, a few steps from the building and surrounded by a Mediterranean garden. It’s about 26 km from Dubrovnik airport and 30 km from Tivat airport, 46 km from Dubrovnik itself and 51 km from Budva. Close by is the Njivice naturist beach, one of the oldest in the country, if that appeals; I cover the alternatives in Herceg Novi beaches.
What I like most, if you haven’t hired a car, is the daily water taxi into central Herceg Novi listed on the hotel’s website. Arriving in the old town by sea beats the road every time.
Eating, drinking and relaxing
Meals revolve around a buffet restaurant serving Mediterranean and Montenegrin food at breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the website offers an all-inclusive option. There are four bars, the Rooftop on the top terrace, La Bahía Bar, the pool bar and the beach bar, with live music in the evenings in high season. Opening times shift with the weather and the season.
To keep moving, there’s a gym and free body balance, Pilates, aerobics and aqua gym classes, plus a wellness area with a sauna and treatment rooms. The tourist board adds beach volleyball and aqua aerobics in the outdoor pool.

With children
This is very much a family hotel. Star Camp divides children into three groups, Monkey for ages 4 to 7, Dolphin for 8 to 12 and Eagle for 13 to 17, supervised by hotel staff, with activities such as mini basketball, crafts and table football. Rooms have balconies, and there are interconnecting rooms for families or groups with views of the Adriatic and the Kotor mountains.
Worth knowing
The details on facilities come from an archive.org copy of Iberostar’s website saved on 23-01-2026, as the live site blocks automated reading, and from the tourist board’s listing. I don’t quote nightly rates. Add €1 per adult per night in municipal tourist tax. If you’d rather be in the old town or in Igalo, I compare the options in hotels in Herceg Novi, and for a mineral-water spa the Palmon Bay in Igalo is the alternative.
