Lipa is what I'd save for the wet afternoon that Cetinje almost always throws at you. I'd go for the 10:00 or 16:00 tour, arrive half an hour early as they ask, and take a jacket, because caves are always chilly.

What I would keep in mind
-
01 My tip
Arrive half an hour early
The company running the cave asks visitors to be at the car park 30 minutes before the tour to buy tickets. Boarding for the train closes 10 minutes before departure.

02 Most beautiful
Stalactites on a palatial scale
The National Tourism Organisation talks of an «underground king» who decorated his castle with stalactites and stalagmites. The floodlit great hall lives up to it.

03 Worth the splurge
The adventure version
Besides the walk along the prepared path, there's a second tour, Adventure tale, which leaves the beaten track. Its price and length aren't published.

04 Getting there
Five kilometres from Cetinje
The cave is at Lipa Dobrska, within Cetinje municipality, 5 km from town according to the National Tourism Organisation. Drive or take a taxi.
Cetinje
Cetinje has a reputation for rain, and Lipa Cave is the best wet-day plan I know of there. It’s five kilometres out of town, you visit it with a guide on tours that leave at fixed times, and you go in on a little train, which makes it a good bet with children. It isn’t a wild cave for potholers; it’s a show cave set up for the public, and it does that job well.
What’s down there
Lipa cave, the company that runs it, presents it as one of the largest underground monuments in Montenegro, with a system of about 2.5 km of passages and halls. The National Tourism Organisation gets more poetic, describing the castle of an «underground king» decorated with huge formations of stalactites and stalagmites, and the floodlit great hall bears that out.
The figures given for the route don’t quite agree. The same national body mentions a 400-metre journey on one page and up to a kilometre of channels on another, against the operator’s 2.5 km for the cave as a whole. The sensible reading is that the tour covers only part of it, and I wouldn’t quote an exact length.
What the tour is like
The operator’s website lists two tours. Cave experience follows the prepared path; Adventure tale steps off it. Both start from the car park, with the first tour at 10:00 and the last at 16:00. You need to arrive half an hour early to buy tickets, and boarding for the train closes ten minutes before departure.
The National Tourism Organisation gives a price from €16.90 for the standard tour and a 2026 season from 1 April to 30 November. The adventure tour’s price and the length of each visit aren’t published, so I won’t make them up. The office is open on weekdays from 09:00 to 16:00, on +382 67 00 30 40 or by email at [email protected], and that’s who to contact about group bookings or the adventure tour.
The National Tourism Organisation also promises stories about the cave’s inhabitants along the way, and on its Lovćen page it pairs Lipa with the national park as part of the same day out from Cetinje. Wear proper shoes and a jacket; the tour is underground on foot.

Reaching the cave
The cave is at Lipa Dobrska, within Cetinje municipality, beside the old Cetinje to Podgorica road according to OpenStreetMap. There’s no public transport with an official timetable out there, so a car or a taxi from town is the practical option.
I’d fit it into a Cetinje day after Cetinje Monastery and before heading down to Rijeka Crnojevića, which lies in the same direction. If caves are your thing, up north is Đalovića, the longest in the country, and I round them all up in my guide to Montenegro caves.
So you do not lose the morning at the ticket office, browse tickets and tours in Lipa Cave on GetYourGuide.
