Budva calls the tune
Montenegro after dark, from Budva to Podgorica
Montenegro's nightlife is mostly in Budva, with clubs such as Top Hill, which holds around 5,000 people, Opera above Jaz beach and Vice in the centre, plus the beach bars of Kamenovo and Slovenska plaža. Summer brings free concerts outside the old town and Sea Dance at Bečići. Podgorica has bars and clubs all year round.

- Montenegro's nightlife is concentrated in Budva.
- Top Hill, on Topliš hill, holds around 5,000 people.
- The party beaches are Kamenovo, Ploče, Lučice and Oblatno on Luštica.
- Sea Dance took place at Bečići from 28 to 30 August 2026, free with registration.
If you're coming to party, it's Budva in July and August, full stop, because the rest of the coast goes to bed early. I'd stay in Bečići or Rafailovići, a walk from the centre and away from the speakers, and head back on the last bus or in a licensed taxi.

01 Most beautiful
Top Hill, the club on the hill
It sits on Topliš hill above Budva, holds around 5,000 people and has a 600-capacity VIP area. The tourist board says you'll spot it by the beam of light it sends into the sky every night.

02 To save money
Free concerts outside the old town
In 2026 the Budva tourist board put on free-entry concerts in front of the old town, from Artbat on 9 May to Black Coffee on 21 September.

03 Watch out
Licensed taxis home
gov.uk recommends licensed taxis or app-booked ones. For longer trips, the Budva tourist board advises agreeing the fare before you get in.

If you’re after a night out in Montenegro, the short answer is Budva, and the long answer starts there too. No town gets more visitors, 848,515 arrivals in 2024 by MONSTAT’s count, and the only place where the after-dark scene resembles the big Mediterranean resorts. The rest of the coast has bars, terraces and the odd beach party, but it turns in earlier.
Budva’s clubs
The Budva tourist board picks out three. Top Hill sits on Topliš hill above town, holds about 5,000 people, has a VIP area for 600, several bars and a restaurant, and is easy to find thanks to the beam of light it sends into the sky every night. In summer it keeps two nights a week for international DJs. Opera is above Jaz beach, about two kilometres out, with live music, and the party doesn’t start until 1am. Vice is in the centre on Mediteranska Street, opens from 22:00 to 05:00 and takes 600 people. Add the bars in the old town and along the Slovenska obala promenade. The town as a whole is in my Budva guide.
The party beaches
Party beaches get their own page on the national tourist board’s site. On the Budva Riviera it lists Kamenovo, between Bečići and Pržno, with a beach bar that changes its music theme daily and DJ nights; Ploče on Cape Platamuni, about 9 km from Budva, a rocky spot with four pools and parties day and night; and Lučice by Petrovac. Beyond Budva it mentions Oblatno, a beach club on the Luštica peninsula, and Movida, near the Tivat salt pans. On top of that, Ričardova glava, the cove right under the old town wall, fills with music in the afternoon. I compare them with the rest in beaches in Budva.

Free summer concerts
What struck me most about the 2026 calendar is that the big nights were free. The Budva tourist board opened the season on 9 May with Artbat outside the old town, marked 13 July with free-entry concerts and closed with Black Coffee on 21 September on Trg slikara. In between, from 28 to 30 August, Sea Dance took over Bečići beach, free for anyone who signed up beforehand and, according to the tourist board, drawing a crowd from more than a hundred countries.
Kotor and the bay
The bay is a different scene. Kotor has its big moment in August with Boka Night, the bay’s festival night, and in winter with carnival, ten days in February in 2026. If you’re staying in Kotor, start with my Kotor guide.

Podgorica, all year round
The capital doesn’t live off beach tourism, and outside summer that works in its favour. Its tourist board boasts of a large number of cafés, pubs, wine bars and clubs partying into the early hours, and recommends cocktail bars such as Kokotov Rep and Street Bar, the latter with jazz and blues. In October or March, that’s where you’ll find the most going on. More in Podgorica.
Getting home
The Budva to Sveti Stefan bus calls at Bečići, Rafailovići and Pržno until 01:30, and the last one back from Sveti Stefan leaves at 02:00. After that, it’s a taxi. gov.uk recommends licensed or app-booked taxis, and the Budva tourist board, which lists nine firms running 24 hours a day, suggests agreeing the price in advance for longer trips. One more thing for British visitors, gov.uk is blunt that Montenegro’s drug laws carry very heavy penalties.
