Bars in Vaduz and nights out in Liechtenstein, without the hype

Let me be upfront. If you’re after clubs and packed streets at three in the morning, Liechtenstein isn’t the place, and I couldn’t find a single dance venue with an active website of its own in September 2026. What you will find is a handful of bars with character in Vaduz and Schaan, casinos open into the small hours and a night bus home. For a Friday night, that’s plenty for me, and I’d take a good cocktail bar over a crowded club any day.

Bars in central Vaduz

The latest closer in the capital is Zwei Bar & Lounge. It opens Wednesday to Saturday from 17:00, until midnight on Wednesday and Thursday and until 2:00 on Friday and Saturday, and bills itself on drinks, music and events all year. It’s shut Sunday to Tuesday. This is the one if you want to stay out.

The Altenbach, at Städtle 3, is restaurant and bar in one. It boasts cocktails mixed with a bit of theatre, a big range of gins, whiskies and cigars, and a glazed lounge looking down the Städtle. Quieter is the Esquire, at Äulestrasse 51, a bistro with a bar that stays open until midnight on weekdays and 1:00 on Friday and Saturday; mind that in September 2026 it’s warning that it only opens from 16:00 Tuesday to Friday, being short of kitchen staff. For an easy beer, the New Castle at Aeulestrasse 22 opens Monday to Saturday until 23:00, with a sunny terrace facing the castle.

In summer there’s a plan I prefer to all of these. The Lömagarta, at Spaniagasse 5A, is Vaduz’s open-air beer garden. In 2026 it opened from 8 May, Thursday to Saturday from 17:00, and the season runs until roughly September, according to its website. In past years it has put on live gigs and even its own beer festival.

Schaan and the rest of the country

In Schaan, a short bus ride away, two places are worth the trip. The Black Pearl is a cocktail and cigar bar with live music on some nights, open Monday to Thursday until midnight and Friday and Saturday until 1:00; it has a second branch in Triesen. The WY Weinbar is something else, a historic vaulted cellar with a long wine list, open Thursday to Saturday from 17:00, with a tasting room for ten. And after 1:00?

The casinos. They’re the only places open that late. The Grand Casino in Bendern opens 11:00 to 4:00 every day of the year, and on its fourth floor sits Floor Four, a rooftop bar in the style of an English gentlemen’s club, with whisky, gin, rum and cigars; the tourist board says you can go up without gambling. According to its website, its bars stay open until 5:00. The Casino Schaanwald’s restaurant serves until 2:00. The nights that do come alive

A few dates a year Vaduz genuinely stays up late, and nearly all involve music. In 2026 the VaduzSoundz festival filled the Museumsplatz from 22 to 25 July with gigs from 19:30, and Vaduz Classic brought open-air opera to the town hall square from 27 to 29 August, plus a «classic meets electro» set at 22:30 in the Kunstmuseum café. In summer, the Chapter Two at the Hotel Residence turns some Thursdays into an after-work session with a DJ, 17:30 to 21:30, weather permitting. Getting home

Night bus or taxi. LIEmobil runs two night lines in the small hours on weekend nights. The N1 connects Balzers, Vaduz, Schaan and Bendern with Feldkirch, while the N2 runs from Sargans via Balzers, Vaduz, Schaan, Nendeln and Mauren to Feldkirch.
