Prizren Archaeological Museum, in the shadow of the clock tower
Prizren's Archaeological Museum is housed in the clock tower ensemble, which Kosovo's Ministry of Culture heritage database lists as a 15th-century Ottoman monument in the Atik Mahalla quarter. Its courtyard holds the 19th-century Esma Hanëm fountain. Opening hours, prices and the collection itself are not published in any official source.

I'd see it right before or after Our Lady of Ljeviš, since they share a quarter. Even if you don't get inside, the clock tower and the courtyard fountain make the detour worthwhile.

01 My tip
Same quarter as the UNESCO church
The heritage database places the museum in Atik Mahalla, the same quarter where it lists the Church of Our Lady of Ljeviš. Do them as one stop.

The «Kroi i Esma Hanëmit», a 19th-century fountain, is listed in the courtyard of the clock tower, within the museum grounds.

03 My tip
Listed archaeology around Prizren
The database records a Neolithic site at Vlashnje, a Bronze Age site and a late-antique fortress at Korishë, and a Roman villa at Poslishtë, all in Prizren municipality.
Korisha
Small town museums are often the least visited and, now and then, the ones that explain a place best. Prizren’s Archaeological Museum is one of those, and it sits in a building that is itself part of the old town’s fabric, the clock tower ensemble.
A museum inside a monument
According to its DTK record, the state inventory of monuments, this is the «Kulla e Sahatit - Muzeu Arkeologjik», clock tower and archaeological museum, an Ottoman monument of the 15th century in the Atik Mahalla quarter, under provisional protection since 2012. The courtyard has its own listed 19th-century fountain, the Esma Hanëm fountain. One detail I like is that the fountain was protected later than the tower, in 2014-2015, a sign that the courtyard has been catalogued bit by bit and that the small things here are worth a look too.
I can’t tell you what’s inside, because nothing official I could access describes the collection, the opening hours or the price. What I can say is that the building is worth stopping for even if it’s shut, and its position makes it easy to fit in.
Ljeviš’s quarter
Atik Mahalla is also where the DTK lists the Church of Our Lady of Ljeviš, Prizren’s UNESCO component. That’s why I pair them. Half an hour between the clock tower, the courtyard fountain and the church gives you one of the most complete corners of the old town, with the 14th, 15th and 19th centuries within a few metres.

The archaeology around Prizren
Even without knowing what the museum shows, the heritage database makes clear the municipality is rich in archaeology. It lists a multi-layer Neolithic settlement at Vlashnje, a Bronze Age site at Korishë, the ruins of a late-antique fortress with an early Christian church, also at Korisha, from the 5th century, and at Poslishtë a Roman villa rustica with a statio and mansio from the 1st century. Above it all is Prizren Fortress, Roman, 4th century. Prizren, in short, doesn’t begin with the Ottomans, and this museum is the place in town that reminds you of that.
Prizren’s other museums
If you searched for a museum in Prizren, here’s the full picture. With an entry in the same database there’s also the League of Prizren complex, and up towards the fortress in Nënkalaja the 14th-century Church of the Holy Saviour, and the old power station museum, the «Hidroelektrana - Muzeu i Elektroekonomisë», in the Lumbardhi gorge at Jabllanicë. OpenStreetMap additionally marks a fortress museum, an ethnological museum and a Mother Teresa museum in town, but I haven’t found official records for those. I bring Kosovo’s officially listed museums together in museums in Kosovo.

How I’d visit
With no published hours, I’d make it an afternoon stop alongside Ljeviš. If it’s open, go in. If not, the clock tower and fountain are visible from outside and the quarter is worth the stroll regardless. As anywhere in Kosovo, have a few euros in cash rather than relying on a card at a small ticket desk.
