Bogë makes most sense in winter or if you are walking in northern Rugova. For a single summer day, I would stay lower down, in the canyon and around the Kuqishtë lakes.

Sleep in the village
If you are skiing, stay in Bogë rather than Peja. You save yourself 36 km of mountain road each morning.

What I would book
Bogë is the name that comes up as soon as anyone asks about skiing in Kosovo away from Brezovica. It is a small village tucked into the northern part of Rugova, and in winter it becomes a different place.
Finding Bogë
Bogë is a settlement of Peja, a municipality spelt Pejë in Albanian and Peć in Serbian. Peja’s tourism website (pejatourism.org, with no named publisher, so a secondary source for me) places it 36 km west of town and says the road is paved and maintained all year. The route is the Rugova Canyon road, so the drive is part of the day out.
If you are driving yourself from the UK or in a hire car, two things from the FCDO. Avoid night driving in Kosovo, which on a road of snow, tunnels and bends I would treat as non-negotiable. And your green card is not valid here, so you buy local third-party insurance at the border.
A village that has grown
The figure that caught my eye is the census. ASK, the Kosovo Agency of Statistics, counted 24 people in Bogë in 2011 and 161 in 2024. I know of no official source that explains the change, so I am not offering a theory about the cause. What is clear is that there are more people and more houses open than a decade ago.
Once your dates are set, check which hotels are still free in Bogë, Kosovo before prices climb.
Can you ski at Bogë?
Yes, with caveats. Peja’s tourism website describes a ski run with a lift, suitable from beginner to advanced, and schools where children can start and go on to race. It also mentions snowshoe routes from the village with the Rugova mountains in front of you, and bars and restaurants for afterwards.
What I do not have, and will not make up, are lift pass prices, hours or season dates. None appear on any official source I could read. If skiing is the whole point, ask your guesthouse about the lift and the snow before you book. My page on Kosovo in winter gathers what is known about the snow.
Bogë outside winter
In summer the village is a base for walking in northern Rugova. The same website lists peaks over 2,000 m in these mountains, such as Hajla at 2,403 m in the north of the area. For routes and safety advice, above all the FCDO warning about old landmines near the border, see hiking in Kosovo.
If you would rather have a local show you round, book a guided tour in Bogë, Kosovo and choose by the reviews.
Staying in Bogë
There are family guesthouses and villas, plus the odd small hotel. I have no official list, so I will not name one. If you are skiing, sleeping here rather than in Peja saves you 72 km of mountain road a day. I compare it with Kuqishtë and Drelaj in guesthouses in Rugova.
Once your dates are set, check which hotels are still free in Bogë, Kosovo before prices climb.
