Kompleksi Monumental i Lidhjes Shqiptare të Prizrenit
The League of Prizren complex, the old town's history stop
The League of Prizren complex is the monument ensemble that commemorates the Albanian League of Prizren, on the square named after it. Kosovo's heritage database lists the complex as 16th-century Ottoman and, separately, the League building as 19th century, both under provisional protection since 2012. It's the old town's history museum.

Full read: 2 min
- The League of Prizren complex stands on League Square in the old town.
- Kosovo's heritage database lists it as a 16th-century Ottoman ensemble.
- The League building has its own record, dated to the 19th century.
- No official opening hours or prices are published.
Even if history isn't your thing, I'd stop here. It's the place that explains why Prizren looms so large in Albanian memory, and half an hour between the Sinan Pasha Mosque and the fortress climb is enough.

01 My tip
Two official records, one ensemble
The heritage database lists the monument complex as a 16th-century Ottoman ensemble and, separately, the League building as 19th century. Both stand on League of Prizren Square.

A square with a mosque and a fountain
On the same square the database places the 16th-century Mehmed Pasha mosque. Close by, in the Arasta, is the 19th-century town hall fountain.

03 My tip
Fit it in before lunch
On my one-day route it's the last stop of the morning. Half an hour covers the courtyard and the building if it's open.
one day in Prizren
Prizren has a square named after a league, and that’s no accident. The League of Prizren complex is where the town keeps the memory of the Albanian league that bears its name, and it’s the history stop I’d build into any visit, however short.
What the heritage database records
Kosovo’s Ministry of Culture has two entries in its heritage database (DTK). The first is the «Kompleksi Monumental i Lidhjes Shqiptare të Prizrenit», the monument complex, recorded as a 16th-century Ottoman ensemble. The second is the «Ndërtesa e Lidhjes së Prizrenit», the League building, from the 19th century. Both sit on League of Prizren Square and have had provisional protection since 2012.
The fact that the complex is 16th century and the building 19th tells you something useful. This isn’t a museum purpose-built for the occasion but an older ensemble with the League building as one of its parts. Which bit dates from when, the basic record doesn’t say, and I won’t guess.
There’s one more detail worth having. The protection dates are the same for both entries, 2012, which tells you the Ministry treated the complex and the building as a pair rather than listing one and forgetting the other. When you stand in the square, look at it that way, as one site with two records.
What the League was, and what I won’t tell you
I’ll be straight with you. I have no official Kosovan source that tells the story of the League of Prizren, and I’m not going to summarise it from memory. The one thing I’ll add is that OpenStreetMap labels the museum «Lidhja Shqiptare e Prizrenit - 10 Qershor 1878», the Albanian League of Prizren, 10 June 1878. For everything else, the museum itself is the best source, which is exactly why it’s worth going in.
For the wider picture, the history of Kosovo page sets out the dated facts with official sources.
Once your dates are set, check which hotels are still free in Prizren before prices climb.
The square and its surroundings
League Square isn’t just the complex. The heritage database puts the 16th-century Mehmed Pasha mosque on it too. Close by, around the Arasta, stands the 19th-century town hall fountain, the «Kroi i Beledijës». And a few minutes away you have the Prizren hammam and the Sinan Pasha Mosque. It’s a dense corner of the old town, best taken slowly. In the same quarter the database also lists the 16th-century minaret of the Arasta mosque as a heritage entry of its own, so keep your eyes up as you cross the square.
Visiting
Neither opening hours nor prices are published in an official source as of 10 October 2026. On my one day in Prizren route I put it late morning. Half an hour for the courtyard and, if it’s open, the interior. Bring some cash in euros in case there’s an entry charge, since no official source says whether cards are taken.
If you’re touring Kosovo’s museums, this is one of those with an official record. I bring them together in museums in Kosovo, alongside the Prizren Archaeological Museum, in the clock tower ensemble.
If you would rather have a local show you round, book a guided tour in League of Prizren and choose by the reviews.
Once your dates are set, check which hotels are still free in Prizren before prices climb.
