COYA Monte-Carlo, the Sporting's seasonal Peruvian

If you know COYA from Mayfair or the City of London, the Monaco branch will feel familiar, with one big difference. It only opens from spring to autumn, in the Sporting complex on avenue Princesse Grace. Plenty of people heading out for the night look it up, and I rate it as one of the liveliest dinners of a Monaco summer. Here’s when it opens, which is what trips people up, what’s on the menu and how it fits into a night out.

A seasonal Peruvian next door to Jimmy’z

COYA Monte-Carlo is at 26 avenue Princesse Grace, the address of the Sporting Monte-Carlo, and the SBM puts it a few steps from Jimmy’z and the Salle des Étoiles. It’s run by the SBM, the Société des Bains de Mer, the same outfit behind the Casino, even though it carries the COYA name and look.

The pitch is Latin American culture with a Mediterranean view. Artwork on display, COYA Music on the speakers, a terrace, a bar, a lounge and DJs. The SBM adds shisha, step-free access and a no-pets rule. For 2026 the private spaces were reworked for groups, launches and birthdays.

When does COYA Monte-Carlo open?

This is where it gets muddled. In 2026 it opens from 1 April to 24 October, always from 19:00 to 1:00, but not every night. According to Visit Monaco, it’s Wednesday to Sunday in April, May and September; Tuesday to Sunday in June, July and August; and Thursday to Sunday in October. The SBM listing boils it down to «Wednesday to Sunday», which is why I’d phone before going, especially if you’ve a Tuesday in mind.

As I write this, at the end of September, it’s open Wednesday to Sunday with less than a month of the season left. From 24 October until spring it’s closed. There are no 2027 dates yet.

What’s on the menu?

The food is Peruvian, brought up to date by chef Victoria Vallénilla. The SBM picks out three dishes to explain it, ceviche, spicy beef tataki and yellowtail tiradito, and lists Rigatoni COYA and a burrata among this year’s additions. It’s a menu built for sharing, with the pisco bar as its natural partner.

What I can’t give you is prices. Neither the SBM nor the group’s website publishes the menu with figures, and I won’t repeat unsourced numbers. Ask when you book, by phone on +377 98 06 20 20 or with the button on the SBM website.

The night I’d plan

COYA runs its own programme of artist nights, the Inca Nights, plus DJs, so dinner has a habit of stretching out. The plan I’d go for is dinner on the terrace on a Friday or Saturday, then across to Jimmy’z, the Sporting’s nightclub, when COYA shuts at 1:00. On 25 September 2026 the two even shared a night with Bob Sinclar.

Neither the SBM nor COYA publishes a dress code. I’d follow the Monte-Carlo night-time rule of long trousers and proper shoes, which also gets you through the door next door. The full night-time map, with the other venues’ hours and how to get back to Nice, is in Monaco nightlife.

Getting there and back without fuss

The Sporting sits at Monaco’s eastern end, past Larvotto, a little over a kilometre as the crow flies from Casino Square. On the way there I’d walk along avenue Princesse Grace in the evening light, which is a pleasant, flat stroll by the sea.

Getting back is another matter, because COYA shuts at 1:00 and the club next door much later. Within the Principality the N1 and N2 night buses run, and taxis charge a fixed €18 for any journey inside Monaco. If you’re staying in Nice, bear in mind the official taxi fare is €100 to €110, which is why my advice is to sleep nearby, on Larvotto or in Monte-Carlo.

Is it worth it?

If you’re here between June and August and want dinner with music that tips over into a party, yes, and I’d put it alongside the city’s other treats in luxury experiences in Monaco. If you want relaxed Peruvian food with clear prices, it isn’t the place, because here you pay for the atmosphere and the view as much as the ceviche.
