Jimmy'z Monte-Carlo, half a century of Riviera nights

Jimmy’z is the nightclub everyone associates with Monaco, and fairly so. The Société des Bains de Mer presents it as a legend that has ruled Riviera nights for more than 50 years, and Visit Monaco dates it to the 1970s. I’m less interested in the myth than in the practical side, which nights it opens, what it’s like inside, how you book and how you get home at 5:00.

Where it is and what you’ll find inside

Jimmy’z sits in the Sporting Monte-Carlo, the SBM’s complex on the Larvotto peninsula, at 26 avenue Princesse Grace. It shares the site with the Salle des Étoiles, the concert hall of the Monte-Carlo Summer Festival. Everything else on that site is in my guide to the Sporting Monte-Carlo.

It was completely rebuilt in 2017 and kept what made its name, the dance floor, the garden and the Summer Bar floating on the lagoon. Visit Monaco describes the whole place around a Japanese-style lagoon, with floating jetties, open-air lounges and private terraces. The SBM lists a sea view, a terrace and shisha among its features, plus a Perrier-Jouët champagne space in the private boxes. It also offers valet parking, which tells you a fair amount about how most of its guests arrive.

Which nights does Jimmy’z open?

As a rule it opens Friday and Saturday, 23:30 to 5:00. In 2026 the season started on 20 March, and in summer the club adds nights. Here the two official sources disagree. Visit Monaco says Wednesday to Saturday in July and August, while the SBM programme, from the people who run the club, says Thursday to Saturday, with dates that fall on exactly those days. I’d trust the SBM and, if your trip hinges on one particular night, email ahead to confirm. In September it drops back to Friday and Saturday.

Neither source says when the season closes, a detail I’d like to have and don’t. If you’re visiting in autumn or winter, ask.

The line-up is what makes the night

Each season the SBM publishes a programme of residents, in-house «Made by Jimmy’z» nights, dancers and guest artists. In 2026 Hugel, Fisher with Philipp Plein, Black Coffee and Gucci Mane played in June, and Rick Ross and French Montana in August. Friday 25 September was a Bob Sinclar night with COYA Monte Carlo.

My advice is to choose your night by the bill, not by what suits your diary. A big name fills the room, tightens the door and makes the spend easier to justify. A night without a headliner is calmer, and enough if all you want is to say you’ve been. Musically, Visit Monaco describes a mix of house and electro with hip-hop and Latin sounds, so don’t expect one style all night.

Tables, the door and what I can’t confirm

Jimmy’z runs on VIP tables, private areas and bottle service. You book by emailing [email protected], calling +377 98 06 70 68 or using the button on its SBM page. The house publishes no table or drink prices, so any figure you come across is from a third party.

Nor does it publish a minimum age or a dress code, and neither does Visit Monaco. So I won’t hand you an age or a list of clothes as if they were official. My rule is long trousers and proper shoes, which is what the Casino demands from the afternoon onwards and the lowest-risk choice at any door in Monte-Carlo, plus your passport in your pocket.

Getting there and, above all, getting back

From Casino Square you can walk towards the Larvotto or take a taxi, which costs a fixed €18 anywhere inside Monaco. If you’ve started the evening at the Buddha-Bar on Casino Square or had dinner at Twiga in the Grimaldi Forum, you’re already heading the right way. The same goes if you start with live music at Sass Café in Monaco, at 11 avenue Princesse Grace.

Getting home is another story. A taxi to Nice costs €100 to €110, and the 601 night bus stops at Sporting Bay Hôtel, but you’ll need to check its return times before you go out.
